Purely speculative but maybe Ferguson told RDZ he had pains in his foot but was told to carry on playing? No knowledge, just guessing.
That'd surely be up to the medical staff (who are no longer at the club) and the player. Remember listening to someone like Roy Keane say that players will often play through the pain if they feel that they can (see Dunk, and Greer further in the past) but I think it would be negligent from the employer to force a player to play through an injury if they weren't cleared by the medical team.

Given Mitoma was a risk before Sheff Utd with his ‘back’, who then started the game and went off injured for the rest of the season with a back issue who knows what was going on last season

It has been known in the past. See Andrea Orlandi and Will Hoskins.

What makes you say that?
Somebody (a very, very good source who knows him well) told me. Said it was the same for a lot of the younger players, they enjoyed the intensity to start with and when we were being successful, but when we started to struggle, the way RDZ was with them really ground everyone down, and that they weren’t sad to see the back of him.

I always got the impression that it was more about his ego than the club. I think this manager knows the value of having fit players and looking after unfit ones. That said, his style of football sounds to be intense and in danger of creating a queue at their medical centre.

I've also heard many of the younger players hated the end of RDZs tenure. Also been told that there is a very slim chance Ferguson will leave this year, but next summer.....

Assuming Welbeck is out for a while (I really hope not) it could be just what Ferguson needs. He looked way off it today but it must be hard only starting occasionally and knowing you are most likely going to be subbed. He was the obvious choice to come off for Mitoma.

Hopefully he can find a goal against Wolves and that will see his confidence soar. At the very least he will know he is in for a run of starts and that might settle him down a bit.

Tough game for Evan today, he’s probably “a finisher” more than he is an all-round player, and there was precious few finishing opportunities today.

But yes, feel a goal would do him the world of good, confidence-wise.

Wolves are really rancid in the back and Evan will probably be forced to start again (if only precautionary for Welbeck's injury). If he can't get one against them I'm not sure when his next chance will be.

Really hoping Welbeck’s injury is not bad. Playing Ferguson instead is a huge down-grade. The boy has looked well off it for ages, last league goal pretty much a year ago now.

Needs a loan in January.
He does and sorry to say some of it appears attitude. If he ran around with some energy and put himself about a bit it may help him. Today he ambled about not beginning to put the effort required. I'd be reading the riot act to him if was his boss.

Much as I enjoy our youngsters going out and doing well on loans, a loan is not always the answer - it wasn't for Hinsh, and played hardly any part in Dunk's development either, or, I think, in Solly's. Alzate's loans, on the other hand, took him from fairly regular first team games to out the exit door.
The risk with Evan would be, if he didn't set the Championship - or even League 1 - alight his value would drop a lot. Wonder what the club will do in January (ideally, of course, he comes in for Welbeck for a few matches and scores a few).

He looked at sea today, as in all at. He seems sluggish and moreover lacking the power (not pace) that he bought to the fore during his initial hot streak.

His touch is off and he’s getting brushed off the ball all too easily… the rare occasion he did win an aerial duel, he immediately lost the ball and left us exposed to the quick counter and/or ball over the top.

I’m not sure what’s up really ? I’m willing him to look the part but he reminded me of a young Ritchie Barker today… arguably we’re simply not playing to his strength’s, but if Danny is out for a while we need to find an isolation point in our system that requires him to do just one job: score.

Tricky, and there could be more than meets the eye here…

I’m right behind him though, he’s still a young player who needs to hear our support. I hope I’m right when I say this, but I strongly believe one goal (off his arse if needs be) will see an immediate return to form.

If he is going to make it in the PL he will need to contribute more than just finishing

Anonymous again today and seemed off the pace. We’re all prepared to give him time but there’s been quite a lot of that now. I think he’ll come good again, but needs to really up it.

To me, looking in from the outside, he seems out of shape. I am wondering if he has had glandular fever or long Covid, as I think some speculated on here last season.

Strikers need confidence and a run of games, but they also need fitness, and (personal opinion) he doesn’t seem to be moving as freely/putting himself about quite as he has in the past.

Having said that, if Fab has seen enough in training to put him on the pitch, that’s progress. Nobody gets match sharpness by sitting on the bench.

pretty much this. i don’t think there’s any point in speculating about attitude, fitness or anything else as we just simply don’t know. his talent obviously hasn’t gone anywhere, came very close to scoring against ipswich, just needs one to go in now.
