Can someone explain to me what he's actually done? All the BBC says is that he's been criticised for his handling of the expenses story - but he's not one of the MPs claiming expenses?!

I believe he was one of the main people standing in the way of expenses transparency. There was a high court ruling last year to force them to release their expnses, that the government lost, but they still refused to do so. They tried to get themselves exempt from Freedom of Information.

If I'm wrong on any of the above, please correct me.

What a joke that was !!

They're all a bunch of liars, robbers & bullshitters the lot of them.

It will be good to see how Ester Rantsen get's on in Luton standing as an independent " no sleaze " candidate. Maybe more should do the same in their local constituancies & take on these politicians sao they realise we're not mugs.

I thought it was a really poor performance. I have no doubt that he will anouce his 'retierment' after the election at the end of the week.

Fair play to him really, i mean, who wants to be the first Speeker of the House to be kicked out of office in 300 years?!
