Just the FA Cup to get knocked out of now

I couldn't care less about the JPT, crap cup for crap teams. I was pissed off that Gus fielded a weak team for the Carling Cup as we could have got a glamour tie a couple of games in. I will actually boo him if he fucks around in the FA Cup as well. Let's not forget McGhee got crucified for saying some games didn't matter and Gus is having his back patted for saying much the same. Brighton fans excel in double standards.
Agreed, and I was thinking the same thing. You can tell that Poyet's still in his honeymoon period by the fact he hasn't got anything like the abuse that McGhee got for saying pretty much the same thing.

I too couldn't give a shit about the JPT, but I would have liked us to have had a go at the League Cup with, as you say, the chance of drawing a big club. All the JPT gives us is the task of shovelling our way through a load of shit just for the chance to rattle around a half-empty Wembley. Likewise I want us to have a decent run in the FA Cup. I'm in a (probably tiny) minority in that I'd happily sacrifice a few league points and places in return for a traditional minnows cup run leaving a trail of dead giants behind us.

I think thats probably the best and most succinct description of the JPT I've ever heard.

Why do people keep trying to making us have to choose between one or another ? I WANT BOTH

These things are not mutually exclusive ! A winning mentality applies to all games played.

But a good cup run, as nice as it would hoping we get a "big" team to play..will also be a distraction to our main goal, ie Promotion (see as per leeds nearly did last year).

Nice cup run ending with Spurs...but in turn dented their going up as champions

We could be out of all the cup competitions by November, assuming we manage to go down tamely to the likes of Forest Green.

The cups are where I think the English have a different mentality to foreign managers and players. Certainly the FA Cup has always been a major competition to every club that enters, from the County League team that manages to win a couple of ties, the Conference side that gets through to the third round right through to the big clubs that tried really hard to win it. I don't think foreigners understand this tradition.

I thought tonight was shite and I will be really disappointed if we have no kind of cup run at all this season.

Not very optimistic are you?
