As I understand it, their ask is that the government commit to refuse to green-light any new gas or oil projects. As an ask, that seems completely reasonable and achievable, and by any measure (economic or environmental) good sense.
Smashing up petrol pumps at motorway services however, is criminal damage, and while their aims may be laudable, their actions are not.
I understand the desire for publicity (a campaign like this is ineffective without it) but they need to be disrupting the movements of the relevant government ministers and not causing inconvenience and potentially harm to the general population. You never know, a bit of “dodge the protester” may even keep the current front bench off Pornhub for a bit.
