I have always thought he is a decent finisher, that much is clear in just the pre-match warm ups.

That to me is the big problem with Jake. He does look good in warm ups and at half time when he is on the bench. Full of skill and tricks. But when he gets on the pitch he just doesn't do it.

People hark back to the fact he was our top goalscorer a few seasons back - but fail to remember he only scored in 4 league games that season - and he did play regularly.

People also keep on about the need for him to have a good run in side to see the best of him. Probably true But pro football is harsh, you don't get that luxury, particularly as a striker. You have to deliver when you get the opportunity - and to be fair to the various managers that have worked with him, he has had more opportunities than just about any other player I can think of.

Although unconvincing, Jake is twice the player Cox is (although Coxy had a reasonable game yesterday). Jake can cross the ball better than Cox, he has a better shot than Cox and he covers the ground better than Cox. The only thing that Coxy is better than Jake at is standing there with his hand on his hips! That said, if they coached Coxy to stand out wide when playing on the wing he would have twice as much space to play in and wouldn't be knackered when crossing the ball as he wouldn't have had to go on a run first. I cannot believe that, with 5 players in midfield yesterday, we didn't have one player that was stuck permanently out on the wing.

(did you see what I did there? A :drunk: is a Jakie in these parts...) I'll get my coat.

If he drinks that bottle of Larson shown in the MOM photo he may well look like that too.

I've always thought that maybe his attitude is not what it could be. I might be wide of the mark, but he seems to give off the impression that he is doing the fans a favour by playing for Brighton. Maybe a bit cocky and in the comfort zone. As I said, probably wide of the mark here.

I've heard it all now.

:whisky::eek:

I think the guy handing over the bottle has already downed one or two himself, and then been dragged through a hedge backwards.

I'll tell you this... Jakey draws a good lottery ticket. :ascarf:

Hove, f***ing ACTUALLY.
The fact that he has been 'loaned' out sugests to me that the club feel he may still have something to offer.

Never lived up to his prolific youth career and some of the hype and expectation, but similarly has never had a consistant strinking partner to play off, I wasnt overly impressed with Davies yesterday, but that style of player is the sort of guy Jake played well with (McGammon etc).

Its all hypothetical because he cannot be recalled, but I am not 100% convinced his value as an Albion player is finished just yet.

Maybe this loan spell will do him good. Get away clear his head,play football and score goals. If he comes back a better and rejuvanated player then thats great.

I'm not saying Robinson's perfect, but he is better than at least a third of our current squad and yet it's him we release. There are plenty of players I'd have preferred to see sent out on loan before him. It's a shame he'll probably never play for us again, because I'd much rather see him than some of the tossers on the pitch yesterday, and at the very least he'd have been a good sub.

So very, very true.
