Charity begins with humans, regardless of where they come from or where they live. Borders (constructs of society) shouldn't stop us from caring for other humans.

Nobody replies to that racist ****wit anymore. Don’t indulge him. The mods won’t ban him, so he’s best treated as if he doesn’t exist.

I understand that this is the first time a Minister who has (pretty clearly) transgressed the code has not been got rid of. Some the the dark arts of the game of cards have been deployed through not-too-subtle hints that she herself might have been the victim of sexism and racism.
Johnson had a chance to disassociate his regime from shoddy behaviour and chose not to. (Very popular with the grass roots is Priti. Trump is not the only politician who plays shamelessly to a diminishing base.)

I think you will find that in the past,in the situation Patel finds herself in now, the minister would resign rather than force the PM to act. We are looking at a Post-Trump world now for sure. It's like the final scene in The Italian Job as the coach teeters on the brink of catastrophe and its balanced only by the weight of its passengers.... this is a Brexit metaphor, no single person can get off or it goes over the edge, they are all irretrievably linked together, Raab, Gove, Johnson et al.

He won’t get shod of Priti because she vocally loathes immigrants, pours scorn on those less fortunate in society and has backed Brexit despite all evidence that it’s a total disaster, and is in favour of the death penalty. All the qualities Tory voters admire. She’s a vote winner.

Yup. Protocol requires her to put her papers in to spare embarrassing the boss. What a shitshow.

How many times did Mandelson resign and still end up with a government job? Yet you always vote Labour :lolol:

I refer you to my previous statement !

Plus, let's be honest, she and Rishi are useful for the "how dare you accuse us of xenophobia and racism, look at our Home Secretary and Chancellor" card. It's a lot easier for them to dismiss racist rhetoric from the Home Office if the incumbent isn't just another white guy.

It's not even like this is a first offence. She shouldn't really have got away with that whole Israel business a few years ago.

Mind you, Gavin Williamson was caught leaking documents sensitive to national security and is still in cabinet...

Bloody Worthing!
So here's another few days in the life of the Johnson government. There's now a legal challenge to the appointment of three key players is our hugely successful attempt to fight the Covid calamity.

Dido Harding - a Tory peer, pal of David Cameron, wife of Tory MP.

Kate Bingham - school chum of Rachel Johnson, wife of Tory minister.

Mike Coupe - former colleague of Harding and very rich man.

Plus Johnson's pitiful behaviour on the Patel bullying issue, a probable public sector pay freeze and cut in the foreign aid budget. All this in a Cabinet populated by millionaires dragging us toward a Brexit which will impact the livelihoods of most of the population and not in a good way.
