I didn’t arrive at it it, see below I should have posted this link, sorry for the inconvenience.

https://www.cashfloat.co.uk/blog/money-borrowing/illegal-immigrants-welfare/

That's asylum seekers, not sure why they use the phrase illegal immigrants which is misleading. they are not a burden, we have an obligation under the 1951 Geneva Convention

Wouldn't take any notice of migration watch either, they claim to be independent but are being mysteriously funded and generally stoke fear about immigration

Out of interest could any of the resident Do gooders give an acceptable number of illegal migrants they'd like to see enter the country or is it a case of keep coming the more the merrier?

If a government is doing its job correctly there should be ZERO illegal migrants. They should be documented and given legal pathways. Illegals is entirely down to government incompetence.

giving all migrants right to stay and work does remove the "illegal" aspect. do you think that policy might have any unwelcomed consquences?

Where did I say "give all migrants rights to stay and work"? I just said they should be documented. That could be a combination of work visas for some and legal status to remain for a period of time depending on what the issue is in their homeland. Either way they should be documented and not illegal. If people are fleeing countries there should be a legal pathway for them to do so. If we are getting "too many" (whatever that is) then we seriously need to address the wider problems causing it.

and you didnt say asylum seekers. i thought it was implied they need to have some status and entitled to work, as you've said.

Full control of our borders is an impossibility. A small vessel slips unseen into the expanse of Dungeness. The 10-15 passengers scurry across the shingle to a waiting vehicle ( all part of the service ) It takes them to an area of the country where they can enter the black economy, be paid in cash and live outside of taxation and state recognition. It is an industry that cannot be controlled. It is a daily occurence and it has been for some considerable time.
Those that have been returned are a small percentage of those that have been detected and intercepted. We can't control our borders. No country in the world can. You try and do your best. We have a natural border ( water ) which should make us more difficult to enter but it doesn't deter people. This is an attractive place to come to, particularly if you can live persona non grata, which many do.
We have lax standards and lax control and no amount of big talking will change anything.

Boris / Farage and all the Brexperts said we have to leave the EU to control our borders

and how does blaming the French or chucking them a few more MIllions fit in with "taking back control" ?

I appreciate that , but by giving the Government more power to return illegal migrants is better than the current situation the UK is faced with ie EU laws still applicable, agree ?

Asylum seekers? there may well be a few but most are looking for the UK the soft touch of Northern Europe , they're simply not needed in the UK, but all is not lost legislation is in place to send them back as from the end of December 2020 , it's as straight forward as that, most reasonable people see it that way apart from a few liberal day dreamers like yourself

It's being prepared for release as we speak
