"No one can be bothered to care about Boris Johnson’s lies anymore – and that means he can’t be stopped "

It's quite incredible that in living memory, lying as a politician, would end up as a sacking or a resignation.

Very true.

The next election is 3 years away ( potentially slightly more if they abolish the Fixed Term Parliament Act ).

No point in getting stressed until then.

They will continue to 'never resign over anything' until booted out ( whenever that may be ).

But remember, it’s the Labour Party who apparently can’t be trusted with money...

Instead of just reposting factually incorrect facts and figures usually emanating from dubious political sources I wish posters of all political positions would take a minute and check the true facts on fullfact.org. Two worth checking at the moment are test & trace expenditure and export/import figures post BREXIT.

I have no political axe to grind - except against the ineptitude of the EU/Spanish non vaccination programme.

Which sources are dubious?

For a start;

How much has Test and Trace cost?
NHS Test and Trace has not cost the UK £32 billion so far. We have written about this before.

In total, the government allocated £22 billion to it in 2020/21 and a further £15 billion for 21/22.

Actual spending was £5.7bn up to the end of November and is expected to near £20bn by the beginning of April.

What about Germany?
It is difficult to give a reliable estimate for the total cost of the German system, but it is certainly much more than £48 million.

Full Fact spoke to the German Federal Ministry of Health which told us the funding of this system was more complex than the post suggested.

Firstly, German government is divided into a federal and state system, with some testing costs also being met by insurance.

The details are complex, but the German Federal Ministry of Health told us that for every one million tests the federal government incurs costs of up to €21 million. On 7 March 2021, Germany had conducted 46,252,735 tests. A very crude estimate would therefore suggest that this has cost the federal government roughly €972 million, or around £834 million.

This does not include any money spent by the federal states on running testing centres, nor anything spent so far on contact tracing. So although it is hard to say how much Germany as a whole has spent on testing and tracing - and therefore hard to compare it with the UK - we can be confident that the total cost in Germany was far more than £48m.

Then this;

WHAT WAS CLAIMED
£37 billion was found to pay Serco for a failed track and trace system.

OUR VERDICT
£37 billion is the two-year budget for Test and Trace. The vast majority is spent on testing not tracing and does not go to Serco.

“...if £37 billion can be found to pay Serco for a failed track and trace system, the money must be available to pay NHS staff properly.”

Nazir Afzal is a former Chief Crown Prosecutor. He is a source I would trust. His post doesn’t mention Serco.

Another classic from the blonde buffon...

“The general view is people have had quite a few days off, and it wouldn’t be a bad thing for people to see their way round to making a passing stab at getting back into the office”.

Just shut the f**k up you've done enough damage already

Rishi Sunak was pushing for people to stop working from home a couple of days ago. Companies like Nationwide have told their workers they have a choice of working from home, their usual office or their nearest office.
I think rich landlords are getting twitchy seeing their real estate portfolios diminishing. They can turn their plush office blocks into housing, if they’re so worried.

As a general principle I don't have an issue with it. I've hated working from home and can't wait to get back into an office and start interacting with people normally. I'd probably even enjoy the commute for a week or two. It will feel "normal".

It's certainly not JUST rich landlords either. There are hundreds of struggling small businesses that used to be served by office and construction workers. Small pubs, sandwich shops, phone repairers etc. Some pubs in The City got the vast majority of their trade in the week.

As a piece of timing, however, it's up there with Dom's trip to Barnard Castle. We're still locked down you blonde buffoon.

I'll be more than happy to get back into the office in June but not before.

Just shows how daft people can be.

To be fair the tory liars are extremely practiced at the art of deception; just employ diversionary tactics or coat the misinformation in a flippant comment, add a bit of latin - and voila! As you can tell from this forum there is a determined pretorian guard of followers who staunchly defend their mendacity.

you'd think he'd be asking the questions "who in the Home Office has these cards; what is the process for authorising use" rather than just roll with the Bylinetimes, that failed to make such basic queries. imo we should check on everyone of those payments and others published, investigate and sack those involved in improper use.

(in case not aware, purchases made on government cards, spending published here https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/home-office-procurement-card-spend-over-500-2020)

Incredibly insulting from Johnson to accuse people following the Government’s own scientific advice during a pandemic of basically being lazy shits
