Chuck the real ones out and get an artificial one in.
We've succeeded in off-loading the kids and will celebrate Christmas with an artificial dependant. Isn't he cute?

Christmas ain't Christmas without a REAL tree.
Shame about filling the car with pine needles when collecting it, having first had a half hour discussion with the missus about which one to choose, having to cut the bottom off to make it fit the stand, dropping needles all over the carpet for a fortnight and then having to reverse the process to get rid of it on 12th night.
They do smell nice though.
