[QUOTEI shall not return until the morning of first home league game at Falmer when my son and I will walk from Old Shoreham Road to the new stadium via Withdean.[/QUOTE]

I like that idea a lot

This thread was doomed to happen, and probably raise its' ugly spectre again every so often in the nasty spirit form it has.

It's up to the individual.

I personally do not want to look at it. I was raised a few yards from what I feel was hallowed ground, and it's a picture in my memory I don't want spoiled - not even once Falmer is completed.
It sits for me as a crooked monument to their 'success', the success of the thieving uncaring self-serving bastards.

If you shop there every day and still worship the Albion - that is up to you, and I ain't going to subject you to feeling guilt or treasonous ire for going there.
Don't try telling me my feelings are wrong or misguided, and I won't tell you yours are, simple as that.

It's actually silly to argue about it or impose judgements on each other - just get on and DON'T let it be a divisive issue for ALBION fans now. THAT is something we should agree on - it mustn't carry ANY negative effect over us, we are Brighton.

They were filthy evil effing scum who did that, they certainly don't deserve to divide us in any way this far on. Fact.

Very well summed up.

So if they built a car park over the graveyard in which your father is buried, albeit 12 years ago, , that would make it alright?:nono:

What sort of analogy IS that??

For starters, Brighton & Hove Albion are very much ALIVE, you pillock! Sure, if the club had folded you'd then have grounds for drawing this parallel.

Fucks sake, in a couple of years we'll be watching football in comfort, AND be able to buy cheap sofas as welll...

Well aren't I the controversial one. I fully appreciate that a lot of you have a rich history of supporting the Albion and can all lay claim to be the worlds greatest fan but really this whole argument boils down to my failure to grasp how people can cross that threshold for the first time and why.

It seems that for most of you it was simply a matter of convenience which seems strange, like you cant be bothered to care any more because it in some way affects the way you live your life. It’s no different to preferring a take away, disliking a garage attendant or avoiding roadworks and yet none of you could be bothered!

As I have stated on a previous thread the morning of the first game at Falmer I will go there to bid a final farewell and to link the old to the new but that will be my one and only time I promise you.

To answer a few questions put to me...

My Dad has been out of the country for 7 years and so is now only a fan in name really
My girlfriend would either not go there or not tell me but would certainly not ask for a lift
Finally I don’t expect any of you to put any value in what I think you should be comfortable enough in yourselves to not worry and when the season starts I will be standing there shoulder to shoulder with all of you, just maybe with a clearer conscience?

You can't help yourself can you. You go on about those using the GRP should not worry but then go on to say that whilst you stand shoulder to shoulder, you are slightly better. How bloody self righteous of you. Perhaps you need reminding that it was just a f***ing football ground. True, there were some great days there mixed in with some poor ones but it remained just a football ground. There are far more important things going on in this world.

I really feel sorry for those people who eat, live, breathe, and shit football. You sound like geordies waiting for the return of King Kev the messiah. Don't get me wrong, I love going to the games and enjoy watching the Albion but win lose or draw, the result is not going make or break my week.

Considerably more comfort than we ever had at the Goldstone!

No need to belittle The Goldstone, it was what it was in its' time.

Almost everything we see and use is better than what was around before, it's called progress. The Goldstone did not die in the name of 'progress'.

Anyway, we do know that The Goldstone was superior to The Withdean!

The best days of the Goldstone from my point of view were 76-79 when most games had over 25k there. After that crowds went downhill and the place started crumbling and getting condemned. It was our home but that didn't make it a great stadium.

Withdean not The Withdean please.

Agreed. Unfortunately, we are plagued with fuckwits aplenty.

Why do you get so narked about the used of he work "The".:tantrum:

Some say potato, some say par-tart-to.
Some say tomato same say toe-mate-to.

You say scone, i say sco-own,

Some say Withdean, other say The Withdean.

You can go on about what is actually correct, but that all stopped when we all stopped speaking the queens English grammatically correct and added slang.

know what i mean like.

When I've been to the retail Park, which is not often, I actually look around and remember the Goldstone and it makes me smile. I'm grateful for the memories and and thats all they are now.

Leave the past in the past. The future is much brighter now than it was back then. The Club survived through massive adversity. Be joyful for that

I am just giving my honest opinion on a complicated situation. If people are happy to go to the GRP and not give it a thought that is up to them. I would never hold it against them but in my eyes that is just not cricket. As i said i will be there with them and i will have a clear mind as i assume they will. It is just a case of having different morals and values. I certainly didn't mean to come across as holy than thou.

If the Albion loose i am in a foul mood that evening that is just the way it affects me. Last season after we lost to Swindon i was miserable as sin but again that is just me.

Finally to answer an earlier question yes i am a season ticket holder..... It arrived this morning, but without a posh blue wallet. Was that just me or has that been dropped as a perk?

Sorry, but you did and still do come across as holier than thou'. You refer to them as 'different morals and values' but your implication is always that they are better than those of us that use the GRP which is crap
