I have no issue with going into any of shops - as said earlier in the thread, they have not done anything wrong.
It also makes me think of the "good old days" more

still never set foot on that land and always maintained I would'nt until I've watched a game at Falmer, well before Falmer it was a case of never EVER setting foot on it then not until we had a new Stadium and NOW its cos we.........you get the idea!
Agree with this. Once I've seen us play at Falmer then I'll consider the hatchet buried. Funny - was having exactly this debate with the wife yesterday afternoon in the car park of Furniture Village when she suggested that we could go to DFS. However she knew what the answer would be - even she won't go there as she doesn't want to upset me! However I have now promised her that as soon as the first match at Falmer has been played I will finally go there.

I think people can get too sentimental about these things.

Yes we should still be there and the way we got sold out was a travesty.

But we now have a shiny new stadium to look forward to. :falmer:

Personally, I have never had a problem with shopping at Focus or going to the Goldstone Retail Park. If they have got what I need then that's where I go.

The fact is, irrespective of who was our chairman at the time, we would have had to have sold the Goldstone as we were upto our eyeballs in debt. The only difference would have been that an honest chairman would have ensured we had got the new stadium first rather than trying to make a quick buck. Either way, JJB, DFS, Toy's r us and Burger King would still be there.

As for Focus, it is the only DIY store in town so I'm not traveling 10 miles each time I need a packet of nails. I would prefer it if there was no link to Archer but thats life. What are you going to do if you find out he has shares in Sainsbury, Asda, Lidl, Waitrose, Tesco et al. Are you going to starve?

Get over it and look to the future.

I shall not return until the morning of first home league game at Falmer when my son and I will walk from Old Shoreham Road to the new stadium via Withdean.

Oi, that's my idea!

There's going to be a few of us then?

I'll still never buy anything there.

What about Wickes, about half a mile away and B&Q on lewes road??? I can't believe any Albion fan would ever go to Focus... You're putting money straight into his
pocket.:censored:

How much was the debt and how much was the Goldstone worth, all irrelvant now but Archer stiched us.

Went to Hove dogs yesterday, happy memories walking down the steps at Hove station and then under the tunnel.
Avoided the retail park, as I have done since it replaced the Gaulstone ground.

Bullshit Mr Han Man, if we'd had a chairman like Abramovich we would not have had to have sold the Goldstone.

I was in a car full of mates recently and a couple of them needed to go there for something or other. I had them drop me off outside the site and waited in the park until they were done, they picked me up again afterwards in Old Shoreham Road.

In this respect, I don't care that Falmer's coming, the sense of loss over the Goldstone will never go away - it was our home FFS. I respect the decisions of those who say 'move on' and shop there, but I'll never set foot on that land again as long as I live and hope that my choice will be respected in return.

You don't stop thinking about things which were important to you in your past just because your present circumstances are different, do you? Why should this be any different?

I have to admit i am often surprised by the number of people who are willing to shop there and forgive the past.

Personally i have never been there, avoided it when possible and on one occassion turned away from it whilst going past. Sadly i was welling up whilst that happened.

For me it is not simply a case of it was our home. What happened and what stands there now is a representation of eveything that is wrong in society. It highlights how a sense of community, togetherness and belonging can easily be replaced by one mans greed and how, even in the darkest times people can come together and make a difference.

That seems to be something that is lost now. The shops that are there do simply view it as a good site however if everyone in the community that was affected had refused to shop there maybe it would not have seemed so tempting to them, maybe it would have made the likes of Archer think twice, maybe it would have prevented further similar situations. Who knows.

The point is i genuinly dont think anyone who has been there can call them selves true Albion in my eyes. I recently discovered my Dad, who admitedly has not been in the country for 7 years, went there when over visiting. I walked away from him as he told me and to be honest that was our last real link. I havent spoken to him since and to be homest have no real interest in doing so now!

Some may say that is a bit strong but if you've got the time and patience i will happily discuss in greater detail one day over a beer, who knows you may understand!

In the mean time i would like to refer you to an earlier post

You walked away from your dad? Your last real link? At least you have your priorities straight!...Jeez. I'll buy you a drink in the Crown & Anchor and tell you why you are such an idiot.

Oh right really, ok that sounds interesting!

Out of interest have you ever had a relationship with someone based solely on one shared interest and found that once that goes there is very little else?

Dont mean to get up tight but I dont like being called an idiot. What i said was right and i was simply trying to make a point.
