I was told it would need to have a fault to take it back.

Do i break it or is there a way round the non 30 day guarantee ?

I actually want a more expensive one with 3G.

My last phone had 3G and i was able to pick up podcasts directly from the BBC website but this blackberry curve 8520 hasnt got it and i cant get any kind of reception ! I presume that the lack of 3G is the problem as i was able to pick it up before in the same location.

Any help appreciated.

the only way to get a refund from Argos is to take it back damaged (faulty screen caused by pressing too hard on it) or accidentally drop it (not fit for purpose as it should be of merchantable quality)

If only there was some kind of big book you could read in Argos shops that told you stuff about the items you were purchasing. Then problems like this wouldn't happen.

Or even a website that would give you all the tech. spec. And stuff.

no 3G? thought they all have 3G. has a change of network meant you dont get 3G on the BB? if it was brought online you have some time to return any item under the distance selling rules.

Yeah Yeah Thanks. I dont really understand these tech things. It either works or doesnt work. On my new phone (no 3G) my podcasts dont work on my old phone (Had 3G) podcasts worked. Im presuming its the 3G !

When you buy a phone surely you should do some research?

Its only now that ive got the phone am i able to compare the quality of reception. I just presumed it was the signal provider that affected the internet reception not things such as 3G. Im not up on these things.

Can you make phone calls in these places? Because if you can then you have signal and that's probably not why you can't play podcasts. Probably more likely, the podcasts that you're trying to play don't work on the web browser on the Blackberry. Probably they use flash or something like that.
Ultimately, you can't return it now because there's nothing wrong with it so all you can do is put it down to experience and learn from it. Next time you're buying a phone, go into one of the proper phone shops and get a proper demo of the phones you're interested in then you can try the stuff you want to do on it and make sure it does what you want it to do.
