It serves you right for working for some other pratt. No-one got rich working for someone else, and having some dickhead telling you what to do and when to do it, is for the faint of heart.
I got made redundant three times in four years. The first time was all right as I had a load of wedge in my sky as I'd been there such a long time, I actually turned down a job with the company that took us over to cash in.
The second and thirds were real pissers though and was thoroughly miserable for months afterwards. But the others are right, there are plenty of other jobs out there and it doesn't take long to get back on your feet. Take a short break to unwind and then just start sending out the CVs (and networking like hell).
I've got it hanging over me at the moment, as my job no longer exists at a local level. Can either take the money and run or move to a job at head office (Surbiton). Am trying to keep both options open for a long as possible before making a decision.
Redundancy was one of the best things that happened to me. I was made redundant from British Airways ( after 10 years service ) a little over 3 years ago. Had a good pay off and was able to start up my own business working for myself.
Sometimes, just sometimes the grass is greener on the other side.
