So if everyone left at half time, would the team still bother to make the effort in the second half to turn it around and win the match?

First half was awful we could have been losing 4 - 0 as they had a definate penalty turn down

Their penalty claim was in the second half, but yes, we were hanging on.

I think it was naive to leave early. As you say you've saved your money, so why not watch the full 90 mins? It was the slagging off of everyone else that didn't help matters.
