mentioned yesterday, but pure speculation.

Why not, I think they would be a successful partnership. I don't doubt Barnes is a shit manager but I think he could offer something as coach.

Do they have any connection?

Saying that, Coppell doesn't have any of his former backroom team available, does he?

whats the obsession with Barnes on the board? He has achieved nothing as a coach and despite all of the TV work, income etc can't even manage his own finances...

I would prefer somebody who has proven himself at another club and is not coming back to us.
Or if that is not possible my ideal would be Poyet coaching with a senior man as manager or as I have suggested elsewhere Tony Adams as manager with George Graham as assistant but not sure we could afford them.

Tony Adams is unlikely to ever get another manager's job because he isn't very good at it and he is second behind Wise in people I'd hate to see at The Albion.

Tony Adams? Do you like league 2 football? He has the reverse Midas touch. Everything he touches turns to shit.

Barnes - No with a capital NOOOOOOO
Ditto Adams.

Why on earth does anyone think they can a) coach, b) manage.

Just cos they've got some qualifications doesn't make them qualified the job.. Usually having some sort of aptitude for being good at it is the way forward.

You have made sure no one will listen to a word you say with that suggestion. Adams has been AWFUL at both Wycombe & Pompey.

If it's not Coppell, Taylor or Curbishley I'll be surprised - and most likely it will be Coppell

Adams has studied at many of the top clubs in Europe and is reputed to be a very good coach. He also knew when and how to defend sufficiently well to play for Arsenal and England with distinction irrespective of the 'donkey' tag. George Graham has been out of management too long for consideration as a manager, but I feel that his experience coupled with Adams enthusiasm would make an ideal pairing. He would have learnt from his mistakes at Portsmouth and Wycombe and we could reap the benefit.

Another suggestion I made was Gary Stevens and Alan Mullery so you can see I am very much in the old head and new upstart combination.

Regretably it is looking more likely it is going to be Coppell and the reason I dont want SC is because I think that we need stability and that he will not provide that and will do like he has with Reading run out when the going gets tough.
