Can't believe people are saying they would be underwhelmed. McCormack is a great player and can play in the hole behind Ulloa...probably the best in the league for that type of role.

Would love to see him down here...also, if the becchio rumour is true, then we already know they work well together.

They only bid £1.7 supposedly brighton outbidded at the last minute

This is where the story (sort of) falls apart for me. There are two weeks left in the transfer window before we get into 'last minute' bidding wars.

Would be a good signing, though.

Saving money by having a shithouse manager that they pay in pints of bitter?

Can't see they have a chance of meeting FFP with their budget and their crowd levels. Probably will have to have a fire sale in January to balance the books.

Not sure where this is coming from. Mowbray has kept Middlesbrough competitive despite very tight budgets and injury crisis after injury crisis. Sure they haven't been worldbeaters in a while but neither have they been relegation fodder. According to one of my Middlesbrough mates they have got rid of the last of the ''Premiership wage/Championship standard'' players on there books and they finally, for the first time in a long time, have a bit of cash. He thinks FFP shouldn't be a problem because despite low crowds, their small squad are now on sensible wages. In fact, they actually been linked with a couple of decent signings of late. A relatively sensible club compared to some in this league.

If they bid 1.7m and its common knowledge, why would we bid 2m? And not 1.75m

Probably because business and more importantly negotiation isn't that simple. You bid £1.75m and they only raise £100k to beat that or you feel he's worth £2m to you which may not be the case for another club. Additionally by going to £2m you may be saying this it, you want a sales this bid is here for 24 hours, there isn't anymore.
