I am a defender of Locadia and have been for all his time here, however I was less than impressed by his efforts against Saints, ignoring the missed goal scoring chance..We needed him to run himself into the ground given that we were a goal down and down to 10 men. To me he looked uninterested and lazy

Can’t argue with that. Seen flashes of a quality player, but unfortunately not often enough and I think Saturday was the final straw.

Glad to see the back of him but disappointed for him at the same time. He clearly realised early on he was a panic buy after the club's failure to sign a striker in the first premier league transfer window and his confidence was shot accordingly. After that there was no coming back for him despite his short purple patch last Christmas. No ill will to him though, good luck at Hoffenheim - hopefully sets the league on fire and we get some of the Joelinton money to cover some of our losses on him.

Blimey c'est la vie.

I genuinely thought, after preseason, we'd be wowed by Big Jurg II.
I was loud wrong there.

A big shout out for the kidz, from Potter, Ali's gotta at least have a travel bag packed.

Injury to Murray or Maupay and this could be a very big gamble

In terms of the one central striking position in the current formation, Connolly, has gone from 5th in line to 4th, in terms of players who could conceivably play there. Still behind Muzza, Maupay and Andone. Not much risk of us having to go below Connolly. I think we’re well enough stocked.

OK, he may not have fitted in particularly well here, or done a lot to win over the fans, but I wish him nothing but the best going forward. Hoffenheim are a decent club - & have a great set up & superb stadium. I've followed them since my sons football club went on tour to Germany a few years ago & we did a tour round the place. Hopefully Locadia will start banging them in and kick start his career again - & give us a chance to recoup some of the money if he is sold next off-season.

I would love some of the money back. But the only thing he looks capable of banging in is not goals.....

I like that this move seems to mean a promotion for Connolly and Alzate. This is one of the reasons Potter was hired and I am looking forward to seeing how this plays out.

I was concerned that Connolly (especially) was going to spend the season kicking about EPL2 where he has proved that he has nothing more to prove.

Seeing that Locadia was not selected on Tuesday my thought then was that he would be involved on Saturday at City. It's now all set up for Connolly to come off the bench and score the winner.

It’s worth remembering when we bought JL, Glenn was hardly banging them in, after his arrival Glenn kicked on big time! In some ways JL helped keep us up that first season, just not in the way we thought!

Am I imagining it, or did he say shortly after he arrived in an interview that he wanted to go back, or was there an offer for him made by someone? The latter bit might be Andone, thinking about it, but I'm sure there was something JL said that got mentioned on here.

Thinking a bit more, was it that he wanted to 'use the opportunity at Brighton to move to a big club', or words to that effect? If so, that worked out well :dunce:

Disappointed it didn't work out, but glad he's gone. At least I won't have that mild irritant where after 18 months, some people are still calling him "Locardia". Although we'll still get reports on here of his every Bundesliga goal I suppose.

(Wait, what am I saying ?)

Yes, pretty much on joining he said he wanted to move to Man Utd after us. Maybe he was joking.

And he moaned in the Dutch press a couple of times as well after that.

Is the number 9 shirt being binned for the season then?

I doubt anyone who signs for us believes it’s what they want as the pinnacle of their career to be fair

Wonder how much game time he'll actually get at Hoffenheim? They're not a bad side (finished 9th last season), in a much stronger league than Eredivisie. Julien Nagelsmann's gone to Leipzig now of course but I suspect with the squad they have they'll still be targeting a top half finish.
