Not surprised TBH, I think I heard an interview a few months ago with him when Liverpool were going through a period of poor form. He alluded to something like this.

Never used to like gnashers but have warmed to him recently.

Interesting. I have read various articles recently that he has been taking on more and more control at Liverpool over the last season or two. Would be a huge risk for a club of that stature though. I'm never a fan of an assistant or coach with no real managerial experience taking on a job of that size. I know Liverpool did it successfully a few times in the past but that was a long time ago.
Appointing from within was the way they used to work in the olden days

De Zerbi to Liverpool is surely like Potter to Chelsea? Somewhat unproven at that level and not won anything yet - except that Ukrainian cup. Would Liverpool risk that?

I live in Liverpool and all my Scouser friends are saying Xabi as replacement. Klopp stepping down at the end of the season has been known / rumoured for a couple of months.

I image they'll go for Alonso, but RDZ will be linked. Wouldn't hate Potter going there if it stiffs Palace.

Stop worrying. There is not a single Liverpool fan who would want RDZ ahead of Alonso. Alonso is their man, it's probably already agreed.

It couldn't have worked out better for Alonso, lead Leverkusen to the title and then move to Liverpool, perfect.
This , RDZ isn’t there yet 3 wins in 15 league games and struggling to break down low blockers isn’t quite good enough for Liverpool.

It'll very likely be Alonso. Doing well, and his contract extension has a release clause for his old clubs. Unless something very odd happens I don't see it being anyone else

The former Spain international penned a contract last summer that will keep him at the German club until 2026. But he could be allowed to depart before then, if one of Real Madrid, Liverpool or Bayern Munich show an interest in his services, according to Bild. The clause in his contract comes into effect in the summer of 2024.

It's Alonso next up, ,surely?

Although the thought of Gerrard getting it is deliciously funny.

If RDZ gets us to sixth again and wins either the F.A cup or Europa league then I wouldn't begrudge him getting it either.

Not just about who takes over at Liverpool but the knock on effect it has. If Alonso goes to Liverpool, theirs a role to fill at Leverkusen etc
