Marseille couldn't afford any of our 'young gems'.

I'm not sure Enciso is going to be here much past this season anyway, based on nothing but a feeling, but I just don't see him shifting Pedro and think we might see toys coming out of his pram sadly. That injury really set him back in more ways than just fitness :(

Do you think there's a chance we'll have Joao Pedro for next season?

Enciso just doesn’t seem to have the right attitude. Dunno why he’s mouthing off in the press about this now. Not the sharpest tool in the box. Needs to do his taking on the pitch

If he can establish himself in the Brazilian squad he might want to stay where he is sure to be a starter if he wants to be in the World Cup squad 2026.

I think we can have both of them playing for us. As Tony Bloom says he never steps in the way if a player wants to leave. All the players who went for those massive fees had the opportunity to stay. Hopefully we can qualify for Europe and pick up a cup and then they will probably want to stay.

Does feel like a fall out or situation is brewing with him

Really hope he keeps his head down and does his talking on the pitch

Feels like a long time we’ve been ready for him to consistently show the skills and effectiveness he clearly has .

Up to him to take the chances when they come . He was very good against Crawley but pretty poor on Saturday

Can definitely see a situation where he leaves for not as much money as our fans think he is worth.

I can’t really warm to Julio in all honesty - I just get the feeling he will be another one that leaves in a ‘bad way’ with us unfortunately

Blimey, there's a lot of character assassination going on here for one of our brightest prospects and indeed one of the brightest young prospects in world football. Julio will have his mate join him soon and for all we know is very happy to continue his rehabilitation after his long injury. Et Tu Brute?

Why do people have a problem with that quote? Saying he learnt a lot from on ex manager is hardly problematic unless I'm missing something?
He wanted me but things didn't work out...

Maybe it's the translation but that makes it sounds like he was open to the move.

Yes. Some very odd reactions to a completely innocuous comment

I don't think he said anything really stupid, he just made the mistake of... talking, at all.

Will be interesting to see if the club was aware of it or if something is going to be done about the attempt to tap up the player.

The original article says that Enciso wanted to stay at Brighton (so he can shine here and then get a big move)

The expression he used "no se dieron las cosas" does translate as "things didn't work out". This phrase is often used to express disappointment but can also just mean it didn't happen.

If I was Enciso I'd be raging that I'm not starting matches. Do you remember the start of last season before he got injured? He was outstanding. Every time I see his name on the bench, I ask 'why?'. He is arguably our best player. I don't get it.

This thread is about Enciso, not Joao Pedro. Although to be fair, there’s no arguably about it Joao Pedro is comfortably our best player.

Who would you start Enciso instead of? And whilst I love the kid and his undoubted talent, he’s not pulled up any trees since his injury and unfortunately, the Copa, Olympics and subsequent injury he had won’t have helped him.

If I was a team mate of Enciso I'd be raging about him making decisions that are the potential best for him rather than the result in the game.

If he wants to start games he needs to stop being one of the least efficient attacking players in the league.

Certainly has the skill and talent to become one of the very best but he needs to add some... general maturity.
