I think there is always some holding back until the ink is dry on the contract... we have seen plenty of last minute changes of heart in the past, across many clubs,... if the agent is worth his 'salt' he will have been touting his protege to a range of clubs here and across the channel.

Judging by what has already happened with this player, anything can happen between Gatwick and Lancing.. and who knows what went on in Madrid,... there could always be an offer floating about the La Liga via the transit lounge.
