No, they got Reading, but carry on...

The point was that the league cup is full of teams like Liverpool etc. The JPT is not. A cup run in the league cup as Northampton have proved would generate income, the only decent gates in the JPT come in the area finals and the final at Wembley.

In the meantime we have to play an extra 4 or 5 games to get there meaning 4 or 5 more chances to get injuries/suspensions.

Our squad is not big enough to chase success in two competitions.

Gus said that it would be a strong team, as we have no game on Saturday, so we don't need to think about resting players for an important league game. Therefore it makes sense for Gus to paly a strong team, which could also respect Slade coming back to Withdean, and perhaps give some fringe players a run out for the last 30 mins. For example, he could bring on Baz or Bridcutt

After just hearing the quotes from Gus about JPT, would you like to retract these comments?

I'll be gutted if Hart and Holroyd start up front tomorrow.
Fair enough no one cares about this competition, but it's still a good opportunity to build some momentum and give Barnes and Murray another game to develop their partnership.
With that in mind, I'd go for:

Walker

Calderon Elphick El-Abd Painter

Sparrow Bridcutt Battipiedi

Smith

Murray Barnes

So, a similar team to Saturday's but with no glaring weaknesses. Resting Kish and Bennett is enough in my opinion.
