Oh no!! - trying to think if he's the best in Red ever, probably Barry John and Gareth Edwards slightly ahead

Possibly but defo the best Welsh fullback ever. Phenomenal performance for the Barbarians v All Blacks and a great try
Cliff Morgan said in his commentary as the fellow who never shirks anything
RIP Dr John Peter Rhys Williams and thanks for the memories and inspiration growing up

All greats from Wales best ever era.
I remember Bill Maclaren saying something on the lines of, “he breaks wingers bones on a Saturday and mends them the following day”

Played his part in the greatest try of all time by offloading the ball after a very high tackle.

Agreed. Outrageously good fullback, who once played in a charity rugby match at Haywards Heath RFU. Christ was he fast even though he had retired.
For me the greatest red and the greatest rugby player ever is Our Lord, Sir Gareth Edward’s.

Except when they annoyingly outclassed/outfought England. Over a sustained period, 20 of the greatest ever players?

Coinciding with THE magical commentary of Cliff Morgan.
Even that never really bothered me in those days. The BBC would show two live games simultaneously on 1 and 2 but I always watched the Welsh games over an England side. ,,, not these days though. Still remember the All Black Hayden conning the the ref at that line out which robbed Wales of a famous victory.

It must’ve been my working class football fan roots, during games I was very partisan, despite being a young kid. But all harmless. I loved the Friday evening programme the day before, presented by Max Boyce I think.

Toby jug forwards, Windsor-Price-Faulkner, incredible back row players and backs, great times.

Love how the official New Zealand government website totally fesses up that Haden attempted to cheat (while reminding that the English ref gave the pen for another offence - or so he claimed afterwards lol)
