Why not test the water by setting up a facebook campaign,... get Blatter out or Save the Summer Finals...... I would but I am a facebook illiterate.

How about a European campaign, now that the world cup competition holds no merit for that event, as per one of my earlier posts. We should enhance the European Championships, invite the South Americans and any others that want to come then its job done, destination to be decided.....Inform Platini the trough is empty. For that particular world cup year we should all pull out collectively, given the bid process they are now revamping the criteria of their bid each and every day. I personally believe our fans and behaviour even if moderate will not satisfy their religious upbringings. Their bid was selected on the competition taking place in Qatar, with the legacy of their grounds being shared around upcoming countries across the world, now their grounds will be built in their surrounding countries, which did not form part of their bidding application. Its cheating, its corrupt and if this world cup goes ahead then collectively we have to pull out and ignore this OIL Cup !!

I would support a 'Withdraw from FIFA campaign". I think England, Australia and the USA who were all stitched up in the vote should just break away and hope other countries who are sick of Blatter and his cronies join them. Will never happen tho, of course, not least because our own FA has no balls.

so the entire footballing world (more or less) are now going to be expected to disrupt their regular seasons to the tune of 6-8 weeks........training camps, friendlies etc. so that fifa can spread/widen the cheeks of another bunch of nations who , although undoubtedly have obscene amounts of money(blatter is surely bound to be in the top 10 of BRW rich list by the time he relinquishes control) are probably one of the least safest destinations on the planet, who knows what the political climate will be like in another 12 years.........FIFA= hand full of multi-millionaire megalomaniacs with chronic delusions of grandeur.

are you keeping up mate...???

I fully understand the grievance with the World Cup being moved to the winter and the suggestion that other countries will host matches.

That's not what your thread was initially about though. I think we could probably condense this thread down to 2 words- Bloody Arabs. ???

Premier League managers have come out against the idea of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar being played in January.

Sepp Blatter, head of world football's governing body Fifa, has backed a switch, conceding that summer temperatures in Qatar are too high.

But Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger warned: "It would create problems between clubs and countries and countries and Fifa.

"It would mean completely reorganising the whole world's fixtures, and I cannot see that happening."

The Frenchman continued with a hint of sarcasm: "As you know, we have a Christmas period which is quite busy here, and England would be very happy to play the World Cup in January just after that.

"It looks like an idea that has come out of nowhere because nobody was told that when the bid was voted for."

Fulham manager Mark Hughes said the Premier League would still be playing matches in July if a switch to winter in 2022 happened.

Blatter saying he "expects" it to be changed is the clearest indication yet that the process of moving the 2022 World Cup is well and truly under way

He said: "That's the only way round it from my interpretation. It's going to be a huge change that year and how it impacts we won't know until it actually happens."

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp's sarcastic response was that the idea was "another clever move from Mr Blatter".

Former England manager Graham Taylor, speaking to Eddie Mair on Radio 4's PM programme, said he found the idea of the switch "amazing".

He added: "If people weren't aware of that prior to the vote then I don't really know what is happening.

Club football dominates in England and they won't take kindly to a four-week - or even more - winter break

Former England boss Graham Taylor
"He's now saying it's going to be too hot in the summer. I mean everyone's been aware of that for goodness knows how long. So I really am at a loss for him coming in now and saying there's a possibility of it being played in the winter."

Taylor said he expected the tournament to go ahead but felt it would cause problems in the Premier League.

"If the Premier League hasn't changed, if we haven't bought into some form of winter break, of course there's a problem, there's no doubt about that," he said.

"Club football dominates in our country and they won't take kindly to something like a four-week - or even more - winter break."

Qatar won the right to host the 2022 World Cup last month, becoming the first Middle Eastern country to be chosen to stage football's most prestigious tournament.

However, concerns were raised almost immediately about playing it at the height of summer, when temperatures in Qatar can exceed 40C.

Fifa president Blatter said on Friday: "Although we have the basic conditions of their bid for a June and July World Cup, the Fifa executive committee is entitled to change anything that was in the bid.

"When you play football you have to protect the main people - the players."

For me thats the key point, Club football comes ahead of the England Team for most people in my view, clubs know this as does the FA, I can see the FA losing all power if they dont stand up to this.

All about the money, not just bribes but they want football to become big in rich countries. I say break away and when the biggest teams in the competition are Iran and North Korea, it will be a shambles all be it full of advertising that's already been committed. Then all the withdrawn nations can play a tournament in the summer which will actually revamp the oytdated model.

Blatter, re hosting some of the games in Qatars neighbouring states:

"This demand has to come from the Qatar football organisation by saying we would like to have such and such things, and this has to go back to Fifa, and the Fifa executive committee has to say open it or don't open it," he said. "I can say all these countries are very happy. First of all, the World Cup is going to the Middle East and they are interested - I would say a little bit more than interested - to be part of this competition. It is a wish. It is easy to say but it is not so easy to realise. For the time being, it's too early."

So not only are they bumping the WC to January, causing MASSIVE disruption to domestic fooball calenders across the continent, they're also going to be inviting other Middle East countries to put in a bid to host some of the WC games - and with FIFA palms to grease, you can GUARANTEE that is EXACTLY what is going to happen here. Blatter alluding to it now is just preparing the way. Of course this couldn't be part of the actual bid, because its blatantly a f***ing shambles that would have been laughed out of town. But its clearly always been on the "back-burner", and FIFA would have been fully aware.

Bunch of grasping conmen, the lot of them.

A question I asked on here a couple of weeks ago, but I don't think it was answered. Would the other countries in the bid, Australia etc. have any sort of gounds for legal challenge here, they submitted their bids stating every facet of how they would host the tournament, Qatar was chosen, and now they're changing the foundation of their bid - different time of year, held in different countries etc. I suspect the answer is "no" as FIFA are exempt from many Swiss laws, so can essentially do what they like.
