[Football] Jordan Pickford's father changed the family's last name to save Jordan from getting teased.

This reminds me of a guy I knew from Indiana who changed his last name from Ratliff (a German name) to Radcliffe. The word rat means something different in English than it does in German. He changed it so his son would not be known as a "rat" by his childhood mates.
Are all Express articles written like that?

Having to explain that 'Pigford' to 'Pickford' involves swapping the 'g' for 'ck' suggests they don't rate the cognitive ability of their readership...

EDIT: Thanks for pointing out my typo @papachris 😊

So his dad booted the old surname into touch

I guess so because it actually involves replacing a "g" with "ck"
There is that.

In my defence, I had been up with my 1 yr old since 4am 😂

I used to know a girl with the surname Badcock, she should have married David Goodwillie!
Had a Mr Badcock as a teacher at school. Known to us as Ivor, obviously

Worked with a guy who's surname was Overy, he changed the family name after his offspring were getting mercilessly teased about it. He was a good egg.

But Pick rhymes with Dick. Jordan Dick-cord.

Or keep it simple, Jordan Pick-your-arse and-eat-Lord.

Funnily enough, your Burgess Hill Town have a promising young forward called Joe Overy (spent a couple of years in the Albion youth system at U-9 and U-10 level).
