Jonny Dixon

Anagram, but I reckon I have solved it:

That Jonny Dixon chap we have signed from Aldershot, haven't seen him play yet but am really looking forward to the opportunity, great pity he is injured as it means we may not get to see him until towards the end of the season...one for the future, won't pass judgement on him yet though as people will probably think I am talking out of my six o'clock low.

Give this man a stogie.:bigwave:

The irony here is that I think I may have been insulted but haven't a clue what stogie means. I am probably one of the few on here who has seen Jonny Dixon play, earlier this season for Aldershot, he scored but I can't honestly say I remember much about either him or the game.

A stogie is a cheap american cigar.

Well that clears it up, I have been called numerous things as either insults or terms of endearment during my life...but never a cheap American cigar!

Friend of mine is a Wycombe supporter.

His comments:

"We let him go - never quite made it, but lots of heart and obviously a decent player".

Not quite a glowing recommendation. Probably what I'd have said about Revell.

Yes, but that is a long time ago now... surely, he may well have improved since then?...

'Stogies' -- cigars --were originally made in Conestoga, PA, a town made famous by its covered wagons -- c.f. any Western movies.

Parodi cigars are still made in Scranton-Wilkes Barre, from American tobacco. They don't have much of a following in the cigar snob community, but they are favored by old Italian guys in cafes everywhere.

I am reserving judgement until I actually see him play!

Waste of time. What does seeing a player play give you over uninformed opinion?
