I do think that will be a mistake. It is such a defensive move and our success this summer has been playing aggressive attacking cricket and going for the win.

i disagree, we will inherit one of the best fielders in the world, a very classy batsmen down the order and a useful part time bowler.

I think we've been able to play aggressive attacking cricket because we have the players to do it. Anderson is not good enough. He might get a couple of wickets, but at the cost of 80 runs apiece.
Damnit.

But our strength has been our ability to take 20 wickets in a game and that has been done with a 5 prong attack. Going to 4 and a bit is a bad move.

I really think Caddick should have been drafted in as cover for this game.

totally agree if caddick would have been in the squad id go for hi ahead of collingwood, but i dnt feel anderson will bring as much to the team as collingwood would.

If it's not Collingwood, it's gonna be Anderson. Leading wicket taker for his county he may be but could well prove expensive against the aussies

Quite agree although I thought you rated Anderson.

FRUIT OF THE BLOOM
of the choices i would go for Collingwood.
If the track is anything like it always is at the Oval it should play pretty well for the batsman, therefore Collingwood should get the nod, bowling the Aussies out twice on this wicket would prove very difficult even with Jones in the side.

Some may say its a defensive move but im not so sure, he had great success in the one day series against Australia and although entirely different a test match is he could cause them a bit of trouble with his bowling.

I really think he is the best and safest option at the present time.

If Anderson does get the nod it could well be make or break for the fella.
