He is a horrible man. I really cant understand why people like him. He kick a fan and said he would do it again if he had too. Look at teh two young kids in teh picture, what if he missed his supposed target and kicked one of them? What a piece of scum.

Well said.

Garbage.

Cantona was only doing what any one of us would have done, given half a chance.
Then we would end up in prison and lose our jobs.

If someone did this on the street in front of 2 young kids (maybe more I can see 2 in the picture though) then we would all be saying they are scum.

My favourite player of all time. Legend.

Only two things wrong here.

He played for Leeds and The Scum-instant disqualification from 'Legend' status.

And he's French...

This from The Times Online January 29 2005:

'Despite being responsible for what has been described as “an iconic moment”, Simmons does not treasure the anniversary. This may be because of the media free-for-all ten years ago that revealed he attended BNP rallies and had a conviction for violent robbery.'

Eric, your aim was true

Marvellous :lolol:

It's even funnier that Simmons is said to be a Fulham fan. Just goes to show how shit Palace are when they have to fill their ground with supporters of other teams :lolol:

Simmons got what he deserved, the twat, and long live Cantona :clap2:

He's good in that film, too, btw.

I will post it again in case you missed it.

Cantona was a non-event last night, in part because you could tell he thought Ross was a knob, but also because of his dryness and the fact that his English isn't fantastic. The header exchange was cringeworthy.

Yeah, we obviously recruited Fulham fans to come to a game which was packed anyway. What do you expect us to do? Ban anyone who supports other clubs? Or are you just trying to get round the fact that celebrating a Fulham fan getting kicked by a violent twat just isn't as fun to toss off over? :tosser:

How people can glorify this is beyond me.

Is it just me, but isn't the Jonny Ross show getting slightly repetitive. Just doesn't seem to have the exciting edge it used to...

Cantona was a hugely talented and controversial footballer, he is the kind of player who makes football exciting. I'd much rather watch players like him than overdrilled automatons. The fact he 'kicked off' at palace just adds to his legend, its just a shame Simmonds wasn't an 'eagle' from my point of view. The kids he scared, well I'm certain it wasn't pleasant at the time, but their kudos at school will have hit 100% when it became known how close they were to the incident.

If Cantona is in someway baleful to my rival, then he's alright by me.

...prat of a bloke that he is.

Fascinating man. Shame he doesn't have an autobiography, that would be a good read.

Bit of a nutter really.

Good article about the event here http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/the-night-eric-saw-red-527227.html

Not that I'm expecting some of the idiots here to stop acting so immaturely at such a serious and eventually tragic incident.

What a load of pretentious shite.

Cantona kicking the fan - a silly moment that shouldn't be repeated, but one that transformed his career. Fortunately nobody was hurt.

A deathly scrap at a cup game months later - completely unrelated. To blame Cantona effectively for manslaughter is f***ing ridiculous.

He is a manman though. The snippets about him from Alex Ferguson's book I find fascinating. I really am not sure what planet he's from.

Brilliant player.

I think his English is better than what we heard last night. In the clip they showed from the film, he had much less of an accent and was enunciating far more clearly.

This just suggests to me that he really couldn't be arsed with JR, and so was just auto-piloting his way through.

I've seen a fair few amount of interview with him over the years.

He NEVER gives much a way.
A bizarre bloke.

Steve - looking on amazon it suggests there might be a book. Might give that a go I think. The stories of a madman!

to be fair he was on the show to talk about his film making and Wossy wanted some kudos for bringing this incident up.
Cantona was an arrogant, passionate man but marvelous to watch, the incident was a bad example to youngsters but in comparison to Maradona and his drug taking episodes there is no comparison Maradona is a real cheat and a nasty piece of work to boot.
