Ooh, I opened a can of worms here didn't I? I recognise that Maradona was a gifted footballer, but anyone that has to resort to cheating to win cannot be called great.

Alongside Pele, Maradona was the greatest footballer to have shared his talents with us. There I've said it.

On a different note, although it's in line with the thread title, any news on JC?

He has the same initials as Jesus Christ. Let's all hope and pray he is worshipped at our cathedral of a stadium as soon as possible although Naylor is indicating a January deal is being suggested.

No, none, but Maradona was bloody brilliant.

If there had been no Falklands War, if that handball had been against anyone else, nobody in England would remember it. He would simply be remembered as the fantastic, pretty much incomparable footballer that he was.

Cristiano Ronaldo is disliked by many (for that wink, for his diving over the years) but nobody questions that he is one of the greatest players ever to grace the planet. How anyone can deny that Maradona was also this defies belief.

Thanks to Maradona, young Jonathan is getting his thread strung out to compete with Clayton and Ali.

Most people who claim Pele to be the greatest are basing it on never actually seeing him play. Similar to Stanley Matthews.

I'm not and have seen him 'live'. Not seen Sir Stanley though.

You could throw Duncan Edwards into the mix if you are talking pound for pound greatest footballers, 'they' reckon Bobby Moore wouldn't have reached 30 caps had Edwards survived Munich.

All opinions.........

I'd rather have Vydra than Calleri, only based on the difficulty some South Americans have in settling in this country and Turienzo!

I wonder if Ali is having doubts now hes not even on the bench with his new side.
The club was yet to make any statement of intent back in the halcyon days of endless summer when Ali teasing and flirting us.

It seems like only yesterday when we were a shitehouse team with shitehouse players.
Now look at The Albion, a potential home to CoG AND a South American chico maravilla.
