What!

What's the f***ing point of dragging people out to support the team when MM is putting out "fringe players". By not including any of his first team choices, it can't even be called an experiment in seeing how the fringe players gel with the rest of the squad. Granted, it means that no-one gets injured and no-one gets too tired, but having just managed to sort out a team into one that can get a result, he takes the first chance of a match and ignores it!

It might as well be Drew, Drew, Barney, McGrew, Cuthbert, et f***ing cetera....

Jesus I hope he knows what he is doing, because he's not building much in the way of fan confidence at the moment!

(Have you seen that Celtic are signing another defender....does that mean we can take Virgs back?)

I don't know much about McGhee's thinking, but I am fairly certain that pleasing the fans in the week before the season starts isn't his highest priority.

OK, even if he is not pleasing the fans, I can't see the point of putting out a reserve team. Even if Hastings are not going to provide a huge challenge, it's still an opportunity to test 11 players against opposition that they don't play week in and week out on the training pitch, and to juggle tactics and formations.

This is not a testimonial, not a comedy match, and not a match where I would have thought that a second/third rate team would be put out - as a pre-season friendly, it should have some value for the club, the manager and the players.

The point of pre-season friendlies is to get the players ready for the coming season, not an excuse for fans to have an outing and piss-up.

The first team played on Saturday - McGhee now knows the core of the team he's putting out against Derby. This game is about finalising a few of the remaining understudy roles.

Part of the joy of pre-season is having a look at our young players. The elder Elphick could be a very important player for us in years to come. And probably Lynch might be developed better as a full-back, you'd worry about his height and physique if the idea is to make him a CB.

I personally thought McPhee and McCammon did little wrong on Saturday - it is not their fault they do not quite have the class of a C K-R - but there is now a fascinating battle between those two because realistically there is now only room for one of them in the squad with the arrival of El Turi.

Nothing wrong with that line-up for a game against Hastings United.

All that line up says to me is that McCammon, McPhee and Jarrett can hope for the bench at best against Derby.

On last years form you would have to say that is about right.

No Barry Ashby I note. Does this mean MM has seen enough to sign him, or is he on his merry old way?

That's the one thing I'm surprised about too. No harm in playing a weakened team but i would have thought MM would have wanted to see him at least for another 45 minutes before making a decision...

No point putting out a team that would walk all over them is there? You learn nothing from that.

Can't see MaGoo telling him to leave after a good performance at Bournemouth. It looks like he's resting all the main contenders for a starting place at Derby. Even at this moment, Richard Martin.
