Joining the AMS

Working on saturdays and having college on weekdays means it's a rareity I get to see the Albion that much at all. Nevertheless, now our playoff dates are confirmed this gives me a glorious opportunity on sunday 16th to go to Swindon (where, coincidentally I used to live and celebrate their every thrashing in the Premiership. They even lost 4-0 at home to Wimbledon!!:lolol: ) for my first ever away match. But of course to do this I have to first join the AMS. How do you do this? Would I be right in saying you go to the shop and say "I want to join the AMS please" or is there more to it?

PS. I know it'll be a long shot to get a ticket anyway as I'd have to do a personal application on the Wednesday, but fingers crossed!

As far as I know, you can't just join now and apply for Swindon. Otherwise, everyone would join for this one game. The deadline was back in April I think.

It wouldn't just be for Swindon... I'll be at uni next year so some away games may be more practical than homes ones. Nevertheless, I can see the point in having a deadline, its just annoying that I didn't know anything about it:(

If you know someone else who is a season ticket holder or member they should be able to get you a ticket I think it is 2 per member (or is that the home leg?).

Ignore Dandy he is just a wind-up merchant.

You now will not be able to apply for the Swindon game as the deadline for new ams members was 17th April 2004.

Maybe your first away game will be at Cardiff

Only the home leg sadly. Still, I might try that to get a ticket for that!

That's when we allow armchair supporters to follow us.

I dont think we should discourage people just because they have not been to an away game before. He has already said he used to live in Swindon and therefore would have been hard to get to Brighton for games, not that he needs to justify himself to anyone anyway.
When we have Falmer we will need all the fans we can get and I for one am welcoming new fans with open arms...as long as I get a ticket first.;)

Dandy, what exactly are you trying to say? OK, so you've seen the Albion at a lot of different places whereas I'm stuck working on saturdays and trying to get an education during the week. Doesn't make me any less a fan than you, besides a real Albion fan wouldn't try to wind up others at every opportunity. You really are sad, just sitting there behind your keyboard criticising others just to try and get attention.

(and yes, I am aware of the irony that by writing this, I am giving you more wholly undeserved attention)

It's called banter old boy, banter. Now if I had a thousand posts and left a stupid smilie then you would take it as banter but because I haven't you think I'm out of order.

Just for you :lolol: You should take that as a compliment, It's not every day I give out a smilie.

Sam I wouldn't take notice of any of this lot.

Ring the ticket office at 10am on Monday and ask their advice.

Dandy you really are a prick.

Many of us don't often go to games, including myself. It's not that we don't want to it's because many of us have grown up and have other responsibilities like families, jobs etc. I can't wait take my son for his first game when he's old enough, hopefully one of the first games at Falmer.

I would love to have a season ticket but theres no way I can get to enough games to justify it because my job involves working odd hours including w/ends. I have only been to Withdean once this year because that's all I could manage. It's better than not going at all but believe me I do miss it when I can't go..

I was a season ticket holder at the Goldstone for many years when I was a young lad in the 70's and 80's, also used to go everywhere to away games. You will probably find out when you grow up that other things in life can stop you doing some of the things you enjoy, like football.

I will try and get time off to go to Cardiff like many other "armchair fans". so what? I've supported the Albion as best I can for over 25 years so am I think I've got every right to go and support the team I love.

Don't knock us "armchair fans", remember we're still backing the stadium bid and writing letters etc. I've written tons of letters, got a petition online, been round pubs with cards etc to get people involved in Falmer, sat for days sending e-mails etc and I'm sure many "armchair fans" have done the same. Supporting a club isn't just about boasting about who went to the most away games.
