I think "very out of step" is a bit of an overstatement. Brexit won by a pretty narrow margin overall, and polls do suggest that if the vote was held again, it may have swung the other way in the face of fresh evidence and reality coming to bear.

That's reasonable.

In comparison to the rest of the UK:

Leave, 31% = 21% LESS
Conservative 2019 , 26% (average across both Brighton seats & Hove) = 17% LESS
Green 2019 , 21.9% (as above) = 19% MORE

On balance I would suggest it was very out of step.

Maybe a career in music beckons, the manager of a young violinist perhaps?

people like BJ and DT never volluntarily quite high office, they're the classic examples of post tortoise.

The difference between the two (and there aren't loads of differences) is that Donald has the unswerving support of his party. For Tories this is always conditional and for Boris this support is crumbling away. Tory MP's now know he doesn't represent the best chance of them keeping their seat, apparently the only thing that's important to them. They won't to go into another election with him. They'll tell him it's time to go when they are ready to. The question is when.

Almost every constituency deviates significantly from the national average. It's to do with the vagaries of our voting system rather than Brighton being this massive anomaly.

From the news in the last few days it appears Trumps family have taken over the party and are now running a dictatorship.

Well, thankfully there will be an election. Possibly with some massive constitutional upheaval if the result is arguable

E - yes, they should. To be honest this is a really interesting feature of human nature that I'm learning more about, that some people are naturally more analytical and look at things from a factual basis, and they tend to be in the left of the political spectrum and others are naturally more emotional and get swayed by emotional arguments that appeal to their senses, and they tend to be on the right of the political spectrum. Hence fake news and fact-checking websites and all these things that seem to play everything bare and yet poor society is still split largely down the middle. (I think this point goes back to point B above)

id say thats 180 degress wrong on left analytical, right emotional. thats not to say the political parties dont use numbers or emotional arguments, both sides have done this from time to time. fake news, propaganda, is familar to both sides. people simply dont fit down the neat left/right axis that parties align, most vote either on family tradition or least objectional option.
