What a team that was (for Div 4 !) All 5 forwards scored 15+ goals in the 64-65 season.

Actually SIX forwards scored over 10 goals that season - Bill Cassidy was the sixth (also no longer with us). I suppose he was a 'super-reserve' as there were no subs then.
Goodchild was a converted inside forward, who was well-liked in the chicken run, especailly when kicking towards the south stand. The 'Goodchild' chant was simple but effective. Bobby Baxter behind him was also converted from a left sided midfielder.

A great member of a great team! Thanks for the memories.

It's funny to be thinking of Granny on a day we might sign a winger from Valencia! How times have moved on in football. Dave Turner used to come onto the pitch with a cigarette in his hand and Bill Cassidy once got on a bus I was on with his family!

Bouncing this as in all the excitement of transfers some old timers may have missed

Thanks.
That's Bobby Smith, Hopkins and now Goodchild gone in the the past year - a sad time for those that saw that team and they were probably a major reason that cemented us to BHA. I so wish the guys had been around for the Amex opening.

Amen to that. Despite all the excitement of the old Division 1, the FA Cup Final I do think that was one of the most exciting times to be watching an Albion 11. It's just possible that this season will be even better.

1) Absolutely.
2) Maybe, but 2011/12 is certainly the most tactically absorbing in my 51 years of watching the "Dolphins".

1964. One of my first full seasons watching the Albion. Never lost the bug since. Johnny Goodchild was either briliant or rubbish depending on the day as far as I can remember.
I thought Brian Powney and Walley Gould were outstanding players. Are they still about? So sad that the team that gave so many great memories to so many fans is slowly dying off.
Havig said that, we have no choice but to live for the present and what a brilliant time it is right now to have been a lifelong Albion supporter.
