I just don't understand why he is still hanging around with the Albion. If I was him I would have been away by now, either to find another club or another career.

He's obviously never going to get a chance in the first team. The loan signing of Flinders should have made that obvious to him. He didn't even get a game in the last couple of matches when we were safe. With a combination of Kuipers, Henderson and Flinders he couldn't even get a game in the reserves. Last season, I'm sure he only played a handful of matches.

And now Wilkins is looking around for another keeper, any keeper, it looks as though it doesn't have to be a particularly good one. The No 1 jersey is still free. If Dicky Gay gets the nod at least it should raise a laugh or two with a Brighton player with Gay 1 on his back. He has a good pedigree, his most recent clubs being Heybridge Swifts, Hornchurch and Braintree.

I felt sorry for John Sullivan today, infact a bit embarrassed, that the only game he could get was a kick about with some aged stiffs.

John sat in front of me for 4 years at Withdean and is a true Albion fan, even more of a disgrace the way Wilkins is treating him, its as if Wilkins is saying my god I would rather play a 1 legged blind man than you, he must have destroyed the youngsters confidence totally by now, if I was John I would tell Wilkins to feck off and look for other opportunities.

The problem is Uncle you would have every player telling Wilkins to feck off, and then we would have no team.

We got the message a long time ago that you don't like Dean Wilkins as Brighton's manager. There really is no need to elaborate at any opportunity.

I can't understand why he is picking an unknown trialist (Gay) ahead of Sullivan. Surely now is the time to give him a chance and make him Kuipers understudy if he is good enough. If not, get rid!

playing devils advocate - the whole point of having a trialist is to play them, i.e. give them a trial.

Sullivan is still young and learning his trade, if Wilkins wants to bring in another keeper then it should be someone with a bit of experience to challenge Kuipers, bringing in another kid (Gay is 19?) just seems pointless and detrimental to Sullivans development.

Not what the Argus said!!!

Anyway, imagine if we'd given him a trial and he'd never played and then gone onto be worth £1million+! Can't imagine anyone here would have been too happy about that.

I'd rather not have the paul ifill/ian wright/roy keane situation occur again!

Have we ever had a keeper come through the ranks who managed to get to be No1? We have had a succession who have never even been given a chance, begs the question just how good is our goalkeeping coach? Quite good apparently as Keeley has been poached but it doesn't look good from a layman's pov

On another point what can Keeley teach Calamity who I suggest is a much better keeper than Keeley ever was and has played at a level Keeley could only dream of ?

Sullivan's not good enough from what I've seen of him. I am sure if a club came in for him we'd offload him for a nominal fee. I think in a few years time he'll be playing in the Conference South, which is about his standard. The only thing you can say positive is goalkeepers get better with age so it may be a good thing for him to drop down some divisions, get some experience build his physique and management of his defence and maybe he'll come through later in his career.

Sullivan will be up for his testimonial before he's had a decent run-out for the first team at this rate. Always struck me as an OK keeper, and surely has to be given his chance very soon or be let go. It's only fair on the player.

if you go along those lines, what can jose mourinho teach any of his chelsea team? it shouldn't matter what level you played at if you're a decent coach

and anyway, keeley is the goalkeeping coach for pompey's academy, not the 1st team

I feel Wilkins doesn't rate him enough yet. Whether he will or not in 1-2 years time as Kuipers' successor, we'll have to wait and see. By trialling Gay he is basically saying he doesn't want him, even as a reserve keeper yet.

I personally don't think he'll be good enough on the little I've seen of him, he just didn't inspire confidence.
