Thunder Bolt

Silly old bat
I will not be able to make the next home game, I know bad fan, but I will be in hospital recovering from an operation.

I am hoping I can get the game on my computer tablet.

I hope I hear a song being sung in respect to JP. I would join in, if I was there.

I hope it goes well for you.

Classy from William Hague (y)

My son in law worked at the Foreign Office for many years. He said that by far the best foreign ministers were William Hague and Michael Gove, and by far the worst was Boris Johnson and Priti Patel.

The exact type of Tory they desperately need leading the party, but they’ve all been pushed out with the lunatics having taken over the asylum. Hague, Major - the good, sane ones

I was asked to join the party and stand at the last election. I politely declined for a variety of reaons, one being my post history on NSC. Not sure whether that makes me one of the lunatives or sane ones though.

You had the sanity to realise it could be used against you. Most of the current party leadership don’t seem to have that level of clarity

You either don’t understand the term’Champagne Socialist’ or you don’t know John Prescott history.

Born to a proper working class family, left school at 14, joined the Merchant Navy, not as an officer but as a steward, worked his way up in theNational Union of Seamen, and became a left wing MP.
I admit, taking the Ermine doesn’t sit well with me, but, he at least used his time in the Lords to try to do some good, unlike most.

RIP John and a heartfelt thank you.
How did he end up with the nickname "two Jags" then?

For all Corbyn and McDonnell's faults they were true socialists, unlike Blair/Starmer.

That is interesting to know. I have friends who worked in department for education who speak highly of Gove from a man management perspective

I hadn't realised he was at foreign and commonwealth office too.

My ex was a teacher and loathed Michael Gove, swings and roundabouts

I did say from his man management perspective. I'm pretty sure his education policies weren't popular amongst teachers (I was a governor at the time). Although Nicky Morgan was much much worse

Whatever you thought of his politics, 2 Jags was a real character and a genuine Northern Bloke.

It would be great if our club did something to honour him at our game v Stains?

Cannot underestimate what he did in helping us get the Amex, without which its hard to imagine anything like the crazy heights we've risen to.

RIP John and thank you.

Your legacy lives on.

Dear Lord.

He didn’t own the Jags, they were cars supplied for the use of Government Ministers.

Did you expect him to travel by pushbike?

If Corbyn and McDonnell had been elected to govern, they too would have used government owned cars

Having seen the potential binfest on here I did read William Hague's heartfelt tribute today.

He also posted this video of 2 people who disagreed but clearly had respect for each other

I think William Hague was probably the funniest of my generation. His despatch box oratory about Gordon Brown and Tony Blair's leadership pact has to be the funniest speech in parliamentary history.

I did think about that, but I'm not sure it would be appropriate for the main game as, ultimately, he was first seen as a politcian. Perhaps a piece is the programme would be a good idea.

I wasn't paying attention at the time but I read that Hague demolished Blair at every PMQT.

He had no need to write what he did about JP so hats off for showing a bit of class.

It was classy and again like Prescott, many wont agree with Hagues politics, but he too is a genuine decent nothern fella.

It feels more authentic coming from a political rival
