Arise Sir John. Two performances for me and in no order. 10 Rillington Place and Midnight Express and a third as The Elephant Man:thumbsup:

Two great tv performances. Quentin Crisp in The Naked Civil Servant and Caligula in I Claudius.

Great actor. Thought he might be considered too disreputable to get a gong.

I see a Brightonian got an award for services to a yachting club - her surname is "Barnacle". Best award on the whole list.

Far too many roles to list but he always brings gravitas to any role. Amazing narrator too, Well done Sir John.

Maybe I have to name one role, " Control " in the recent Tinker,Tailor, Soldier Spy film was him at his best.

Very well deserved and my congratulations to the War Doctor :clap2:

Hate to say it but I still haven't seen The Elephant Man. He was superb in the Naked Civil Servant though.

And of course who could forget, one of the best screen deaths in film history.

about time too,brilliant actor

love the scene from White Mischief when Greta Scacchi comes out of the water topless,no hold on a minute

the bit when someone says to John Hurt

'someone bet me a wager that I couldn't get more than 2 words out of you tonight'

he replies

'really'

and walks off

If one accepts the honours system, and I know many don't, he absolutely deserves it - a brilliant actor.

And James Corden gets an OBE. It neglects to say ' For services to -------' or whatever though.
