Went on a tour of the Ajax stadium this summer. The guy taking us round was a fan and asked us our team. When we told him Brighton he asked how fans like Veltman. Told him that JV is a firm favourite and very dependable. He expressed surprise as at Ajax he was considered by fans to have 1 big mistake every match. Obviously stepped his game up with coming to the PL.

Hugely intelligent player……never gets in trouble because he’s almost always in the right place, and his anticipation of what the oppo are doing is fantastic. Absolutely love the bloke - he also seems very happy and settled here.
