Despite stiff competition from my BOY Mitoma, Veltman remains my favourite Albion player. Absolute Rolls Royce of a defender and I would say just about the most underrated player in the whole league.

Just love to watch him, gives Dunky confidence next to him, teams up beautifully with Solly. We look a better side whenever we plays. First name on my team sheet.

Veltman is a real asset. Don't get the impression that he is a massive leader but surely his professionalism and down-to-earthness is very positive. Not much better of a footballer than the average player at this level, but much smarter.

Everything he says about Brighton is positive and from reading interviews in the summer it seems like he would like to extend his contract and stay in Brighton. Think it would have been a certainty with GP but we'll have to wait and see what Roberto wants to do with the RB role.

I think it's been reported we have a +1 year option.

He really is the forgotten player of our success outside of Albion fans being aware of him.

Gross profile is much higher due to his strong start to the seasons goal scoring.

I'd think a large number of the uneducated plastic fans and some paid "pundits" out there wouldn't even know he's in our starting XI each week.

The best Albion LB, more than Cuckoorella, was imho Wayne Bridge. Genuinely world class Ashley Cole prevented him winning more than his 36 England caps.

He effortlessly covered ground with ridiculous pace.
Agree, I think that’s fair. Bridge was excellent that season.

I actually think Gary Williams did a steady job as well, though probably not as good as Cucurella.

Who knows re Pervis he may eventually top them all….

Falmer, soon...
So impressed with him as always, just does some superb stuff. There were a couple of exquisite little off the ball blocks yesterday. Not so obvious as to be blatant but enough to deliver the desired result. Just love watching his defensive work.

Has anyone a theory as to why RDZ rarely starts him? Like many, he is my no.1. Can think only of the pen at Brentford as a mistake he has made (and that was unlucky).
Wouldn't say rarely. He started until an injury & RDZ has experimented since. Veltman's still our best right back by far & a very good CB too. We improved a lot when he came on yesterday & Tariq is always better with Joel behind him. He'll play plenty

Apart from his skills as a footballer, I absolutely LOVE Veltman's enthusiasm when the team scores. I know it's been said before, but he celebrates like an actual fan - seen again yesterday after Mitoma's winner!

:goal:
He celebrates like a 6 year old, in the playground, who's lost control of their limbs.

Absolutely this. So glad someone has mentioned it. Just finished work which means time to watch the goals again (and again) and I LOVE his leap in the air when we score. If you want to improve your mood just watch the goal from the behind the goal angle. I just hope he stays for a long time to come.

I genuinely laughed out load when I watched the replay on the TV. I had to rewind it to show the Bobkin Jnrs, who wanted to know what I was laughing about. As Stat says, he's just a kid at heart!
