He isn't yet. However, if he goes on to better things then we get another 25%. Very good bit of business. Also, we shouldn't be in the financial mire that meant we took an early settlement on Barry.

Terrible deal.

Just a shame ALL parties couldn't have sat down like adults and sorted this mess out.

Our squad was better with him in it than without him.

He's only worth what another club is willing to pay. If there's a club out there willing to give us 300 or 400k for him then they were more than welcome to bid.

Good business IMHO. He's surplus to requirements here and if he does turn into the player some on here are touting him as then 25% is a BIG sell on clause.

Surplus to requirements with us only having one left back and him being on the treatment table for a few months.

Just another player who will leave the albion under a cloud and go on to better things.

Sorry, can you give us all a substantial list of players who have left under a cloud and gone on to better things?

WE Took 75k as a loan fee last season and with 75k linked to appearances and a 25% sell on clause, I think it is a good bit of business and hopefully that money will go towards another signing, Forest wanted to get their key signings Gunter and McKenna sorted before signing Lynch and I did not hear of any other club being interested and hopefully Thornhill will star

Who said anything about substantial?

I think, off the top of my head, we would be better placed if we still had Colin Kazim-Richards, Chris Iwelumo, Dean Hammond and certainly Joel Lynch...

However good a player Lynch is, his heart was not with the club and he could have ended being a very negative influence within the squad. I think Slade was happy to bury the hatchet but Lynch was ready to go and in fairness has gone to a bigger club with the potential to play in the premiership. Good luck Joel, I hope you realise your potential and get sold for at least 5 million A La Roger Johnson

Ok, not necessarily players leaving under a cloud. Just players leaving, fans then saying 'we don't need them anyway' and then realising three months later we miss them...

He's not really a leftback though, he's a centre back and we've got loads of those. Granted we do need to sign a leftback, but I'd rather a sign specialist and have the Lynch money.

I hope he does go onto better things, we might earn a bit more money from him

Some of you lot obviously don't remember Lynch playing for us, if you think he is worth much more than what we're getting.
I imagine we only asked for that dosh because of the investment made in training the fellow from the youth squad.

Lynch was eminently dispensable

Heard we are close to signing Matt Lawrence from Palarse. He only has 1 year left on his contract but is after 2 another 2 years which they won't give him. Can do job at full back and centre back.

He played left back for Forest last season. One can only assume they are signing him on that basis. To play in the league ABOVE us...

From Slade's remarks in the press he wanted Lynch to stay and was willing to start a fresh with him. Yet Lynch has still gone, so on this one I would say that it is hard to blame the club. It seems to me that Lynch wanted out and that was it, rather than staying with the Albion, after all we do not need the cash at the moment.
