Still remember playing London calling on vinyl for the first time - pay no more than a fiver sticker 😊 told all my kids when they were 12/13 I truly hope you’re still listening to the same music now when you’re in your 50’s because I am

I may have my timelines mixed up but I think when I heard it on the radio at work… wasn’t it quite soon after Mick Jones had jumped up on stage with the Mescaleros at the firmans benefit gig and played white riot? … and we all thought ……but no.

1. Miiiiiidnight to six, man
2. There’s a solitary man crying hold me
3. Sitting on the route of the 19 bus

Lucky enough to have seen them live 11 times, including the Anti-Nazi League/Rock Against Racism Rally at Victoria Park, when they shared the bill with X-Ray Spex, Tom Robinson Band, and Steel Pulse.
I never saw them live together but did see the individual components live.

Terry Chimes: drumming for Cherry Bombz
Joe Strummer - solo
Paul Simenon - The Good, The Bad, The Queen
Mick Jones - Pre-match tombola at Loftus Road QPR v Brighton New Year’s Day 20 odd years ago.

But then I got to see Jones with Gorillaz.

1) White Man
2) Death or Glory
3) London’s Burning.
The first two are my favourites, London Burning holds a special place in my heart as I played it a lot as a kid, it was a b-side and I loved it. I could interchange this is any number of other tracks though.

Where did you see Strummer solo…hopefully some tiny, smoky back street pub that was crammed full on a Friday night 😎

I saw him live in Paris, Elysee Montmartre and London Astoria. Saw him at Glasto as well.

But, as for smokey places, we went to to St Moritz Club in Soho after the Astoria gig and so see a blues band playing at Gaz Mayal’s night and Joe came in with a girl and literally sat down with us. A mate had gone to the bar and Joe saw the spare seat and sat down. We chatted for ages. The former NSC poster London Calling (yes I know) and current occasional poster @Cesar Chavez plus some other Albion fans were there. That was a quite memorable night. He was so nice.

Can’t believe you lot! Surely as follows,

London Calling
White Riot
Rock the Casbah

Did they do any others?

………….🤔

I am a long way from giving the credit for all that to Joe. Mick was essential.

And this, my favourite ever Clash track seems to have little of Joe in it....

And my favourite; Lost in the Supermarket….

Sublime opening lyrics…

I'm all lost in the supermarket
I can no longer shop happily
I came in here for that special offer
A guaranteed personality

I wasn't born so much as I fell out
Nobody seemed to notice me
We had a hedge back home in the suburbs
Over which I never could see

I heard the people who lived on the ceiling
Scream and fight most scarily
Hearing that noise was my first ever feeling
That's how it's been all around me

I remember that evening - came back from the bar and a punk legend is sat in my chair! Think he may even have got a round in, not certain about that though!
Remember seeing the Clash in Purley at that big venue which was formerly the Orchid Ballroom. Chaotic evening, more Police outside than a Palace game.
