I don't think anyone's actually wet the bed. It's a phrase for the over-reaction of no news. I'm itching to see whether he signs, but saying the club have to act/resort/panic is quite maddening.

I think it's just a just that I don't like the phrase, most likely because I'm an eternal pessimist and in all honesty extremely guilty of it

I would imagine bench too. If not, there's no rush to sign at all, so if he does sign (or has) before 12, there's a good bet he'll be in the squad.
