Incredibly some people do appear to be that thick.Genuinely hilarious that some people think something someone has talked about a fair bit is somehow a "gotcha" moment

If I was feeling maliciously sarcastic, I’d suggest you are using “whataboutery”.But what he did and what Beckham has done are two entirely different things that aren't worthy of comparison.
I assume given your existence in England, you support the Iraq war and the bombing of innocents? Exactly - a ridiculous comparison.
If you have a rational brain capable of critical thinking, yes.A comedian doing a show in a country is quite far away from being paid by a country to be an ambassador isn’t it ?
My point proved, quite beautifully. If I was feeling maliciously sarcastic, I’d suggest you are using “whataboutery”.
Always with the name-calling. This is the problem; intelligent debate? Nah, I’m right, you’re wrong. Don’t agree? Well you’re thick, probably a gammon. Then you’re a loony-lefty and the conversation gets dragged down to a desperately poor standard.Incredibly some people do appear to be that thick.
Sorry but sometimes when the sky is blue it doesn't help anyone to call it red.Always with the name-calling. This is the problem; intelligent debate? Nah, I’m right, you’re wrong. Don’t agree? So disappointing.
I’d agree with you there.Sorry but sometimes when the sky is blue it doesn't help anyone to call it red.
OK let's try to drag it back up again.
A comedian being paid a small amount by a private company is not the same as someone being paid millions by a government to be a global ambassador for that country and everything it represents. SURELY we can find common ground on that?!
Classic example of someone preaching about something, then gets caught doing the same thing and tries to justify it and deflect attention with a 'statement' picking on the usual targets to satisfy his target audience. See it so many times, especially from those on the 'left' of society/views etc.
It was always all about Joe Lycett and attempting to position that mediocrity centre stage for no real reason at all.
What a total publicity whore
Is that going to remain your most 'intelligent' contribution to the thread?
No, it was just as intelligent as your effort deserved. Is that going to remain your most 'intelligent' contribution to the thread?
I don't know.Surely anyone going to Qatar to earn money forfeits the right to criticise others for doing the same thing?
In the same way, I have previously criticised the club for the trip to Dubai, it would be hypocritical of me to fly off there for a bit of winter sun.
When did human rights abuses in Qatar begin?I don't know.
Does a vegetarian or vegan have the right to criticise meat-eaters, even though they might have done the same, even if is was many years before?
How about the other guy just above me that you did the same smiley to?No, it was just as intelligent as your effort deserved.
He was lucky to get a response as erudite as I gave himHow about the other guy just above me that you did the same smiley to?
yes that would be the case if he criticised Becks for going to Qatar. as it happens, he didn't, he was criticised for specifically taking part in the promotion/PR campaign run by the Qatari government.Surely anyone going to Qatar to earn money forfeits the right to criticise others for doing the same thing?

Agree. If he was so critical of Qatar that he should create, in his own words, a “press stunt” to draw attention to Beckham, he obviously feels strongly about being anti-Qatar.
But not so anti-Qatar that he would perform there previously. And keep the money he earned performing gigs in a country he so detests. It’s hypocrisy, plain and simple.
