What on earth has he done to not be picked yet again. JT is right only he and Rooney have the extra ability to unlock defences...

To be entirely fair, we don't know how he has been in training.

JT is wrong, we have many players who can unlock a defence if they are on form.

Capello is stubborn and JT saying all that was the worst thing for JC chances of playing.

I suspect after this WC Terry will be f***ed off big time if Capello still in charge

His exclusion is an utter farce.
I can only assume he bummed Capello's mrs or said that fascism isn't a good way to run a country or something, because throughout Capello's reign he's shown how crucial he is to England. Even as recently as a couple of weeks ago against Japan ffs! He came on in that game and completely changed it, that's why I was so baffled by the fact he never got on against Algeria since thta was basically the exact same performance.

now he's including Milner instead of Cole. AGAIN.
Even if we do beat Slovenia we won't go far unless Capello works this out.

I have a feeling you are right, JTs outburst virtually guaranteed that JC wouldn't be picked

I do like Capello but hate these weird vendettas he has against players - first Owen now Cole.

What Vendetta against Owen?

I like Cole as a player but he hardly played last season and it could be a pile of turd in training.

I would like to see him from the bench

As someone has just sent in to the BBC;

"Why are people so focused on Capello's stubborness, his 4-4-2, his refusal to pick Joe Cole etc. The real problem is that the England team collectively have been unable to pass to a team mate or control the ball. Sort that out and we have a good chance."

THIS.

I never had a problem with him pcking Owen - In my view he never showed enough form to be considered anywhere near the team. Rarely made the United team towards the end of the season.

Up til now, I had no problem with Cole not playing either, he played very little this season, long term injury. I did feel that he may have had a place today, if the formation was going to change - but he does tend to go missing for large portions of a game.

Wright-Phillips is a pile of turd every time he steps on a football pitch though.

wright-phillips inclusion is the one that really gets my goat - how on earth can he be considered a better option when he is deputy to a man at manchester city who didnt make the cut

the only person, apart from capello, who thinks he should be there is ian wright

What Vendetta against Owen?

Refusing to name him even as a sub despite him being one of England's all time highest goalscorers, even when he was fit and scoring goals for Newcastle and ManUre (off the bench). Bombed him out of Real Madrid despite his superb goalscoring record there.

And before anyone says his fitness is always a concern, it didn't stop him picking King.

lineker is second in that list - why didnt he get a call up?

i love michael owen as much as the next person, but i seriously cannot think of anything (bar the wolfsburg hat-trick) that he has done since capello became england manager that could honestly have had people clamouring for a recall to the england side based on anything other than nostalgia

Perfectly correct.

The Owen of five years ago is ten times the player that Defoe is now, but he is past it. No real vendetta, surely?

And I'm not entirely sure how Capello's refusal to play Cole can be seen as a vendetta either. Lennon has looked shithouse in both games, but we're not seeing any of the players in training. I don't want the England manager swapping players about just because John Terry or the media says he should do so, and then shrug his shoulders when it all goes tits up.
