There are some classic tributes here

Jimmy Savile Online Memorial | GoneTooSoon.org

The ones about school visits and park cafes are particularly worrying

Gone Too Soon is a place to celebrate the lives of those we loved by creating an ever lasting memorial for free. Friends & family can share memories, photos, light candles and leave tributes to those we've lost. Create a memorial, it doesn't cost anything and is a lovely way to remember someone you've lost.
Without having to:-

a) get off your lazy fat arse and actually doing something.

or

b) Actually knowing them.

"Christine West

Sir Jimmy was one of those rare folk who improve a space simply by occupying it. Of course, he did much more than that and the world is a bit darker with his passing."

Oh yes! he did much more than that and a darker side too!

"goodnight god you man you made everyone proud to be british for what you did in your life
may god look after you now jimmy
R.I.P XXXX"

All us Brits are now very proud!

"You brought so much joy and happieness to people you will be missed greatly. I remember meeting you over 40 years ago when i was at school in you brightly coloured track suit R.I.P SIR JIMMY X"

That'll be the tracksuit with the very loose bottoms

So we're all clear, he was a creepy old nonce, necrophiliac, all round sexual predator... but lets remember some of the nicer things about sir jimmy.

Mine are the jim'll fixit theme tune, the great big magic chair where compartments used to pop out with jim'll fixit badges, sweets, puppies (probably) and cigars. I'll never forget the scouts on the big dipper eating ice creams - that was great tv, even if they did get (probably) bummed after the show.

Some of them did come forward at the time, but no one believed them. One girl was even punished by her school for making up stories about such a philanthropist megastar. She was told the school would get no more money from Savile's endeavours if she said such malicious things about him. One girl committed suicide after writing about it all in her diary. Others did go to the police, but nothing was done in it. Even Esther Rantzen, founder of Childline did nothing when she heard the rumours. The only reason it is all coming out now is that Savile had so much power at the BBC that he was untouchable. Only now he is dead do these alleged victims feel it is safe to admit what happened to them and an investigation would be the right thing to do to find the truth.

True too true.

I spoke to someone who around 1970 delivered their gran to Stoke Mandeville hospital for treatment. As they were taking her in JS appeared yelling all kinds of abuse (most unprintable except on the Other Stuff) complaining that they had used HIS parking spot. He abruptly disappeared again when they threatened to call the police.

When the family tried to report the incident to a nearby admin office with its windows open, they were told "We heard nothing". That's what you get when Savile was bankrolling the place. And you might ask how convenient is it that the whole business not only did not come out until after his death, but was delayed even further until after the Paralympics. Imagine how this would have smeared the reputation of Stoke Mandeville....

Seemed good enough for the Catholic church.

I thought that read "ABUSE" for a moment. Be fun to see if the Beeb turn on themselves the way they did on the Irish Catholic Church earlier this year over a perverted priest..

I heard a rumour / story the other day that the reason he used a caravan was because he was barred from most hotels for crapping on the Gideon Bibles the hotels left in the rooms.

If he had been alive at this point in time and all this broke what do you think he would have done? Arrested? Protective custody? Lynched? Fled? Outright denial? I think he would have tried to front it out.

I think he would have topped himself.

He'd have done what every rich, powerful and well-connected bully does ... get a rich, powerful and well-connected lawyer on the case to ensure that the truth remained suppressed.
