Of course! You are entirely correct. Don't know whether to be annoyed I got that wrong or pleased that I don't have intimate knowledge of this country's rape laws!

Law is something I'm a bit of a specialist in I'm afraid! Not just rape law though thankfully!

Personal or professionally? I count a barrister and couple of solicitors amongst my close friends. Can be incredibly trying at times!

Professional - though not quite to that level. If I had my time again I'd definitely look at becoming a solicitor mind!

That's a ridiculous argument, almost on a par with the "boys will be boys" excuse for bad behaviour.
Firstly, I didn't use it as an excuse or justification at all. Secondly, it is a fact that men and women are different.
If we have succeeded in evolving from apes, it's because humanity has changed its behaviour over the millions of years that it's taken.
That's completely wrong. Humanity as we know it in our civilisation today, didn't exist a thousand years ago, let alone a million. Humans didn't get where they are by kindness and modern day humanity, they got here by ability. Humans are capable of great cruelty as well as great kindness. I'm not sure what you mean by succeeded in evolving from apes (obviously we didn't evolve from modern apes).

I'm simply using the term "humanity" as a collective noun meaning "men and women". In that sense, humanity has been around for much more than a thousand years. The fact that society has changed in 1,000 years is obviously true.

My initial post was an objection to the argument that says that aggressive sexual behaviour in men that flouts the rules of society is somehow explicable in terms of evolutionary descent from "apes".

Ok, I thought you meant 'being humane'. Given that you just mean humans, then as I said, we haven't succeeded in evolutionary terms by kindness.

I guess I disagree with you. What is excusable etc is very different from what is explainable. The fact is, people in this world do many things we consider wrong. Maybe we're incapable of finding the reason or explanation, but that doesn't mean there isn't an explanation - in fact, by definition, there is always an explanation, even if we don't know what it is. And no doubt part of the explanation of the way humans behave is going to be the natural instincts of the human species, and like all animals, we didn't evolve by being averse to sex.

Crime generally is committed by far more men than women, not just sexual offences

The statistics are slowly changing, and the spread is very gradually becoming more even, but still, a significantly greater proportion of offences are committed by people with a Y chromosome.

Just strikes me as very odd that all these people have come forward once he is dead, surely they should have reported it years ago to stop him abusing others at least if true they would have had the satisfaction of seeing him go to jail.

Ah, I see what you did there, very clever.
You are "on trial" by your barrister and solicitor friends as they continue to practice on you .....

Lol genuinely didn;t intend that pun, not clever enough. I actually meant that they are a bunch of pedantic bastards and if you get into an argument or debate with any of them, it turns into a cross examination. Irritating.

You're wrong. There is a difference in that a woman cannot commit a rape though. The equivalent offence covers the same penalty though.

Isn't there an argement that the law/definitions are wrong? Slip a V and push a bloke down. Hold a male at knifepoint, force him should he not be "complicit" a V and that's how a female can rape a male...

Is it as simple as that, can the blue pill become an aid to female rape?

What about those older girls who take advantage and commit statutory rape? Not every male has to hold his victim down and struggle, in a similar situation to Megan Adams, had a girl gone off with a male teacher and slept with him.

Not really if the penalties are they same for the equivalent circumstances. The offence wording for rape isn't ever going to change so a women will never be able to commit rape.

Just strikes me as very odd that all these people have come forward once he is dead, surely they should have reported it years ago to stop him abusing others at least if true they would have had the satisfaction of seeing him go to jail.

As has been said- repeatedly- on the other thread, sexual abuse victims quite commonly don't come forward at the time of the offence. They are frequently intimidated by the abuser into keeping quiet, persuaded that nobody will believe them (that will apply even more when the perpetrator is rich and famous), they feel ashamed and as though they should have stopped it, they're convinced by the abuser that it's normal and so on. Then they bury the memory, and try to forget about it and get on with their lives as best they can. Often until someone else makes the step out of the shadows, and they realise for the first time in their life that they're not alone.

Sexual abuse is still a taboo, and victims quite understandably don't feel comfortable talking about it. For example, if somebody started a thread on here entitled "Ever been burgled?", I'm sure plenty of posters would be coming forward to contribute their experiences. On the other hand, if you wrote "Ever been sexually abused as a child?", I'd bet nobody would want to post on the thread, despite (statistically) the high likelihood that out of the thousands of registered NSC members, at least a few have suffered.

As a young girl would you have had the confidence to accuse a person who was a considered to be a saint? and be prepared to stand up in court against the top legal minds in the country?, i think not.
