Zaragoza eyes on Ryan | Sky Sports | Football | Transfer Centre | Speculation

Real Zaragoza have refused to rule out a move for Accrington Stanley star Jimmy Ryan.

It is believed that Brighton manager Gus Poyet has tipped off his former club about the potential of the former Liverpool trainee.

On the back of this it is reported that Zaragoza president Agapito Iglesias dispatched scouts to check on the 22-year-old midfielder.

Zaragoza are locked in a relegation battle in La Liga and the club say they have to concentrate on those matters before looking at their squad.

"We have received reports and it is normal we are analysing our options," a Zaragoza source confirmed to skysports.com.

"But our main objective is to continue in the Primera Division and after that we will work on the question of reinforcements."

Interesting.

I don't get it. If he's good enough for RZ surely he's good enough for us?

strange one this, Gus must have others lined up that are similar to Ryan. I think he is after Jimmy Smith of Orient, an ex Chelsea midfielder who can play attacking central midfield or on both flanks, could be a Bennett understudy or replacement ??

our attitude towards him might change if Benno goes - plays a similar role (wide right or attacking centre mid) 5'11" with a decent shot on him

Rather odd if Gus rates him, we'd go for him no? Being English and more our level than theirs?

Maybe he doesn't think he's the sort of player we need for whatever reason. Doesn't strike as all that odd, he could be a square peg for a round hole at Brighton, but perfectly fit a need for RZ.

Or... This could be another one of those classic "our sources understand/it is believed/we put two and two together/we made it up" type Sky Sports stories.

We're better than RZ so gus is just turning them into the place where we will loan out our talent ;)
