I would have thought it would be very risky playing contact sports IF he has had it removed.

This was in one of the matchday programmes recently. In the article it said that at one stage the doctors thought they were going to have to remove his kidney. But in the end they didn't need to.

If it had been removed, it would've been career over obviously.

I think many (well a few) Athletes have had Kidneys removed and been successful. Anyway i will state again it isnt true and hopefully he will still want to play for us next season...

Probably depends on the sport.

Hopefully an academic conversation, anyway.

Where's Laura and her anatomical knowledge?! I would think he could wear a back brace of some kind, something unobtrusive, so protect the kidney area? He could try atleast.

Barry Corr at Swindon has a shoulder which is going to pop out almost on any contact, so for him to keep playing he's got to have a special support thing made to pack the shoulder into the socket and hold it there. But it'll never be right again, it's a shame because he's only 23/24 I believe.

Get well soon, Jimmy Mac!

Dunno where you heard that from.

Any renal specialist will tell you that you can function perfectly well with one kidney and lead a normal life, including playing professional sports.

Was about to post pretty much the same thing. People have played professional sports having had kidney transplants too.

You do not need 2 kidneys. He could continue a full and active career as a footballer. What a load of tosh.
