I don't think Didi Hamann was given long enough in his first job as a manager. Stockport drew 10 matches out of 19 when he was in charge and only lost seven. Can't see Jim Gannon turning their fortunes around for a couple of seasons and the old saying for managers is "never go back". The Conference Premier is a tough division.

Hope Russell Slade's achievement doesn't get ignored due to Poyet's success. Dread to think where we'd be without him. Can't imagine anyone would think it would turn out like this when Gannon said no!

Is it not the case that a board will offer the earth to get the man they want and then reality takes a grip.
I thought it was something to do with a proposed Liverpool based takeover (who wanted Hamman) eventually not coming through. Sounds like a bit of a shambles, they've been in limbo for a long time.

I wanted it to work out for Dietmar Hamann as he's a decent bloke for a German. :) His column in the Racing Post is always worth reading and since he's been over here he's become obsessed with cricket.

His nose didn't fit in with the board obviously.

Depsite not really bothering with SCFC any more for personal reasons I think I should correct some of this.

Hamman was 'employed' by a solicitor from liverpool - Tony Evans - who was 'trying' to take over the club. As part of the deal he wanted his manager in place and the current bunch of morons who are on the board agreed, sacked their then manager and paid him large amounts of compensation. Hamman was promised large sums of money by Evans once the deal went through.

For unspecified reasons the deal then 'fell through' and DH was left high and dry with a board that did not want him but could not afford to get rid. Hence last weeks farce.
