That is a very sad story. I fully understand why there is little sympathy for him but you are a product of your upbringing.

Sad? He's spent the whole time (almost) playing football for loads of money while continually shagging pretty shaggable looking WAGS.

Yeh sure, he'll be getting bucket-loads of sympathy from me!

Why does this stop you from having sympathy for someone with an alcohol problem?

If that is what he has if course.

When it's clearly about Brexit or Princess Di?

Princess Diana would have voted for Brexit in order to reduce her mortgage repayments and guarantee great/awful weather (depending on which season the story is written in)

Interviewed recently by Hawksby & Jacobs, I found it rather sad. Not the brightest and with no guidance for example when a young player, JP blew all his earnings and wasted his career. Seems fairly common in an industry where huge sums are thrown about, with hangers-on and many agents only interested in their cut.

Spot on. The bloke is from a broken home, his dad was still a Yardie drug dealer when he was at Arsenal FFS. He's probably only ever known a chaotic lifestyle. He didn't have the intellect or the guidance to make use of his talent.

I always find it a strange NSC phenomenon that some of the people who bang on about evil Tories on every other thread are completely unable to show any understanding of compassion in cases like this. Because he's had opportunity he possibly doesn't meet some people's victim criteria.

Exactly . Horrible Tory attitude gets shown sometimes .

Empathy to other people’s situations . Probably same people that dismiss all homeless people as nuisances and drunks .

Once you get to 'he can't read or write' then the time for laughing at him has to stop (if it ever even began). Unstable relationships with similarly inclined eye-candy, unwise career choices, general chaos . . . .is the best he has to aim for, sadly.

I was too focused on the ears to notice.

I confess it wasn't his ears or his right-shoulder which attracted my attention

All those clubs he played for as he sank down the leagues and wasted his talent, his chaotic lifestyle, and general inadequacy as a human being, reminds me of someone who played for us about 16 years ago, and whose life has been a car-crash ever since

I defy anyone not to laugh at him telling the police that he was Ashley Cole after being involved in another drunken car accident.

I hear what you’re saying but he has to take some responsibility for his, at times, dire actions.

More tattoos than games played?
Strikes me he has never been able to stay for long in the same place.
A typical coulda shoulda woulda.
