I'm not sure this is correct. A huge swathe of the market has had rent increases capped and this is a success; no doubt about it. It has achieved its aim. Property which falls outside of the protected sector is increasing though. If you want to make criticism like the one you have made you'll need to be a bit more specific about what you're addressing.
What about expensive properties in Hove HT , do you think they should be rent capped ? :lolol:

other question is can they keep hold of all those they gained? will the students of Canterbury for example be taken in by the bribe next time (especially as they already backtracked on it)?

Other categories include the peeps who claimed they weren't voting for a JC government but for their local Labour MP who in many cases distanced themselves from him ,.. peeps who voted JC as a protest vote to limit the size of the Tory expected win ... not sure many of the more responsible moderate ones will be so keen if it looks like JC and his merry comrades really will get in.

- Apply rent controls.
- Reduce the incentive to create affordable housing.
- Reduce number of affordable properties to rent.
- Rents generally increase for most people as the ratio of supply/demand worsens.
- Another well meaning policy makes things worse through unintended consequences.

Rent controls refer to the private rented sector. Since when have the prs been even remotely interested in affordable housing?

A friend of mine recently took a rental in Berlin, there was nothing in the area of Mitte anywhere near the rent brake and a huge short of stuff to rent. Agents told him if you challenge the price offered its likely the property will suddenly be no longer available.

One would hope that, by the end of the university education that they are gaining, they understand that the vast majority of them will never pay off their student loans in their entirety and therefore never pay the "extortionate" interest rates being charged.

Good to see that The Canary is being called out for being the fake news, mob-mentality propaganda and hype site that it is. It was already well-known that Laura Kuenssberg has had to have a minder at the Labour conference because of threats and abuse but The Canary decided to stir things up even more by claiming that she was going to be speaking at the Tory conference. Completely not true, rebutted by HuffPost as soon as the Canary article surfaced, completely refuted by the BBC in explicit terms and now Ed Miliband has told the Canary to take the article down, which they haven't as of yet.

Of course, this is all a big conspiracy if you believe other Twitter accounts such as Labour Insider.

The Coalition of Chaos is NO JOKE.
The longest fall in people's pay since records began.
Homelessness doubled.
Over 4m children in poverty.
More in work poverty than ever before.
Condemned by the UN for treatment of disabled.

Callous and Calculating.

Why did the Tory's get more seats in parliament in the recent election than all other parties put together? Not sure that the majority of the country believes you.

Labour currently not fit to govern. But then are any other party? All people elect politicians to do nowadays is to just put each other down in commons and see who has the best charisma.

People are disillusioned by this, which is understandable, because ultimately politicians do nothing.

The worry is the disillusioned go and waste their votes on someone stupid because "that'll show the man".

And then the person they voted for gets into power and the voters say "oh. I didn't actually think they would get elected".

And then everyone gets disillusioned again.

Yes, I saw that on Twitter.

What worries me most about the Labour party at the moment is the cult of Jeremy Corbyn. If you don't agree with him, then you're out of favour, and there's no middle ground. JC isn't the Labour Party and shouldn't ever be. It is not a one man band, and he worries me immensely.

No matter how deep they spread the Bullshit, the combination of Corbyn, McDonnell and Abbott governing the Country should be totally unacceptable to anyone with an IQ above double digit.

I don't love this Government by any means but they are a country mile ahead of this mob.
