When was the last time we had 3 Albion player sin the same national squad?

I'd take a guess at never.

Remember having a few in the Northern Ireland team back in the 80s.. Penney, Armstrong, Wilson, did their careers all overlap together?

Likewise did Lawrenson, Robinson and Ryan overlap?

We had two in the Scottish squad 7 or 8 years ago, a couple of Israelis a little while back, have two in the Dutch squad and two in the Aussie squad at the moment, three will be hard considering our team of united nations!

Gary Howlett, Kieron O’Regan, Michael Robinson, Tony Grealish and Gerry Ryan ??? Could have any three of those been named in the same squad ???

Actually if you add Tony Grealish to Mark Lawrenson, Gerry Ryan and Michael Robinson we had FOUR players playing for Ireland around 78-83 - although I don't think Lawro and Grealish were at the Albion at the same time

Gerry Ryan - a special player and one of footballs nice people

Boys in green and blue - the Irish at Brighton

Howlett, O'Regan, Grealish and Ryan were in several Irish squads together in 1984 - all four never played in the same game but there were 2/3 friendlies when three of them were on the pitch at the same time. Grealish was the only one who was a permanent fixture in the Irish team at the time (he was the Irish captain).

did we have 3 in the scotland squad at one point

we had Greer, CMS, Bridcutt and Craig Conway all knocking about at some point (although CMS may have been injured when we had Conway)

Maybe said already, but don't forget the late great Tony Grealish too!

Can't be certain we haven't had 3 players in the same squad since this, but I believe this is the last time we had 3 players all in the same matchday squad and involved in the game - May 21 1982 for the Republic of Ireland v Chile. Tony Grealish and Michael Robinson started, Gerry Ryan came on as a sub (for Michael Robinson):-

Actually, this is an interesting story in itself - it was part of a South American tour at the time of the Falklands conflict. The last stage of the tour was so chaotic there's even disagreement over what matches the team even played! - A comedy of errors: Ireland's ill-fated South American tour

I remember it well - it was utterly shambolic - but pretty routine for the FAI bureaucrats (and they still haven't sorted out the shambolic nature of the FAI).

Which is, of course, irrelevant because Grealish had move to West Bromwich Albion in March 1984.
